earlethepearl Posted June 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2008 No, no free ALCOHOLIC drinks or soft drinks. Sorry! Make sure you have a printed copy of your cruise documents, your fun pass, id and birth certificate or passport. And whatever you are going to carry on with you and you should be set! Flip2cruise Posted June 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Just bring a great attitude and you are all set. I wish they did serve free drinks, that would get people standing in line at 8am to board the ships :) There are free drinks at the Captains Party and champagne at the art auctions. Have a great cruise

Make sure you have a printed copy of your cruise documents, your fun pass, id and birth certificate or passport. And whatever you are going to carry on with you and you should be set! Plus what ever method you are going to use to secure your Sail & Sign card. Ships are cashless, so every drink and onboard purchase will go against your onboard account which must be secured with either a credit card that has a limit that has at least a few hundred dollars credit available (they can put a daily hold against the card), or you can secure your account with cash, and keep recharging it as needed. Like others have said, no free anything while waiting to board, usually there isn't even water available. The only time I've ever seen free alcohol on the ship was at the liqour tastings in the gift shop, champagne at the art auctions, at the Past Guest Party, and on my last cruise in the casino for about an hour one evening mid-cruise all of the waiters had trays full of a variety of drinks that were complementary. 98Charlie Posted June 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Don't forget to bring some cash in small denominations of $1, $5 an $10s for tips outside your automatic tips charged to your sail & sign card. Also make sure you have enough cash for any taxi fares you might need on your journey. Dianne
pungo3 Posted June 6, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Have a fabulous cruise!!! One thing I always take that is rarely mentioned on these boards is a large travel mug. All they have on the ship are plastic glasses/mugs that don't hold much. The beverages on the Lido deck are free but you have to make several trips if you drink a lot (like I do). I won't tell you how many cruises I've had people come up to me and ask where I got my travel mug. When I tell them I brought it from home, they get a very disappointed look.:(

And, of course juices, coffee, tea, etc at breakfast.

I usually fill my HUGE cup with OJ at breakfast time and stick it in the fridge for later in the day when it's not available.
poobears Posted June 6, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Any tips on how early to get there so you can be on the ship ASAP. Check in starts at 12:30 for ours and we are going out of NO. Thanks

Thanks I don't know about the best times for NO but typically you can get there earlier than Carnival says you can. For example, Carnival says that embarkation begins at 1:30 in Tampa. I've always gotten to the port at 10:45 and been on the ship by noon. So you may be able to get there earlier (not like 8 a.m. because you'll end up waiting forever)

Kroosin Posted June 7, 2008 #14 Share Posted June 7, 2008 Does anyone know what Carnival does about reservations made less than 3 weeks in advance? We were informed we would have no paper documentation other than our Fun Pass. What do we do about luggage tags and travel documents?

You just can't get paper in the mail. The last page it the luggage tag, print one for each bag. Go to the web site and add your booking number in add a reservation. As far as luggage tags, you will be able to get them from the porters at the pier. Charlie
poobears Posted June 7, 2008 #17 Share Posted June 7, 2008 You can register your cruise and fill out all your info online. Then you can print out your luggage tags if you want, or wait until you get to port. We got our tags in the mail but we upgraded rooms so they were no good. We went on and printed out new tags with the correct # on them.
