pattiemax Posted April 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2004 When you call the hotel to request a harbor view or a non-smoking room, after purchasing through Priceline, do you tell them it's thru Priceline? Do they know this ahead of time? Do they give you the worst rooms? Sorry for all the questions!! Thanks, Pattie Enchantment of the Sea May1,2004
Nanatravel Posted April 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2004 I never tell them that the reservation is through Priceline. I call to confirm the reservation, give them my reservation number and make my personal requests like bed configuration: king or 2 doubles, smoking or non, etc. Most hotels will make a note of the request, but they can't guarantee it. If you win a bid at a quality hotel, make sure to sign up for their frequent guest program and call with that number as well. Many hotels won't give you points but MAY give you perks and a better location. Of course, the earlier in the day that you check-in, the better room you may get also. CGTNORMANDIE Posted April 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2004 HI PATTI, Do not mention that you are on Priceline. The whole idea of Priceline is not to call attention to the deal. Hotels have been known to withdraw from Priceline if the word gets out...Be discrete. When you get to the hotel you will hand the clerk your Priceline reservation. He/she will not be able to reference it in the normal reservation system...they will have to punch in a code number. Once you see that things are going smoothly, ask the clerk, politely, if you can have an upper floor room with a view of the harbor/beach or whatever and could they make it a non smoking room?? I checked into a well known hotel in FLL and casually asked the clerk if he could give me a room with a view of the ships. He was more than happy to do so and he even picked a room that was higher up so I could see over the bridge and there would be less noise. Not bad for $55 !!! OBX Bill Posted April 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2004 You do not need to mention it to them because they'll know it's priceline. They should try to accomidate your requests...but don't expect the penthouse. If you are dissatisfied with your room call the front desk and ask to be moved. want2seaitall Posted April 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2004 I believe that the hotel is fully aware that you have a reservation from Priceline...they receive the reservation via Priceline...I called a couple days ago to make special recommnedations for my room...I never said I booked through Priceline...and I got a new employee on the phone (I think)...I heard her asking someone behind her how to change the room from 1 king to 2 doubles...and she told him this is a reservation that was already made through Priceline...they didn't give me any problems with my changes. until my Majesty of the Seas cruise! Host Mike Posted April 6, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Hotels offer rooms to Priceline at a reduced rate. They offer the rooms when the occupancy is at a level where they feel that that they will not turn away business at the regular rates. The hotel does know it as a Priceline reservation and it is ran through the hotels reservation system. No secret codes or no special information. Priceline sells the room to you and keeps the difference between what you pay and what they pay the hotel. The rate you don't really know about is what the hotel actually collects. This is the agreement. Will they honor your requests? Sure they will. But, only if available and they will honor those of regular paying guests first. That guest chose that hotel. The Clerk has no reason to let a King room (for example) sit empty unless they know they can sell it directly themselves at their rates. Priceline is fill in business. Hope this answers your question. Mike M. tara5525 Posted April 8, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 8, 2004 There is a spot to add a new credit card, where your cc info comes up. Just click on that and a new pop up screen will come up to fill in their info.
