Mary Ellen Posted June 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2008 After reading about how long it can take for HAL to process the OBC for stockholders, I was a tad bit nervous about receiving ours, as we board in less than two weeks. I just bought the stock the other day and faxed in the documentation as soon as I had it, earlier today. Less than 2-hrs after I faxed it to Seattle, I received an e-mail from our TA that the OBC was showing on our bookings. Excellent job, HAL. :D
redstone Posted June 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2008 I also just received the same excellent service. I faxed my proof of owning CCL shares, and within 2 hours "KAREN" who is the "Shareholder Benefit Co-ordnator" sent me an E-mail advising me that she has credited my On Board Account and with the exact $ amount. She is very efficient.
sail7seas Posted June 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2008 Always nice to read Kudos when they do well. All too often we only hear complaints. Thanks for posting the 'well done'.
Mary Ellen Posted June 19, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted June 19, 2008 I realized after I'd sent the fax that I hadn't included my e-mail address. :o I wasn't worried as my booking numbers were there. This seemed like a good time to buy the stock between a decent price and a number of cruises booked. With the research I'd done, I was finding that historically cruises tend to do well when other travel slows down, as people like to have a 'fixed' price ahead of time. I've had friends get a "great" price on a vacation, but they can't afford to eat the way they want once they arrive. So, this thinking made sense. Sail's thread on her recent resort vacation just added to why we should buy. But less than 2-hrs for the OBC to appear, is outstanding. I'm very glad that it wasn't a 'fluke'. :D

Rare richwmn Posted June 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2008 My experience this week - I use a PCC at HAL. I emailed a scan of my statement to my PCC on Saturday morning. She sent me an email to acknowledge she received the information Mon, 16 Jun 2008 10:25:04 -0700(PDT). I received an email confirmation of the OBC Mon, 16 Jun 2008 10:55:50 -0700 (PDT). RuthC Posted June 20, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 20, 2008 That was really nice of you to post kudos, Mary Ellen. And congrats on the OBC! It's worth a pretty penny for the upcoming cruise! :)
Kiwi Kruzer Posted June 20, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2008 Another Thank You to HAL. This one to the Mariners Society. On our last cruise we were just coming up to the Ruby pin,but would also qualify for the first 100 day Medallion at the completion of the cruise. Expecting the Ruby pin we went to the presentation and were delighted to recieve the medallion. To cut a long story short we missed out on the Ruby pin ,but HAL have come through and even though on the other side of the globe ,the Ruby pins arrived in the post. KK11 Posted June 21, 2008 #11 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Can you use this credit of $100.00 to pay towards the Tip, at the end of the Cruise? What other benefits of owning the shares ???
RuthC Posted June 21, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Can you use this credit of $100.00 to pay towards the Tip, at the end of the Cruise? What other benefits of owning the shares ??? In a word, yes. The OBC is applied to your account, then expenses incurred aboard---the service charge being one of them---are added in. Then you pay the bill! :D The other benefits? The same as owning any other stock, I suppose. The chance of increasing your assets. :)

There is a description of this benefit at http://library.corporate-ir.net/library/14/140/140690/items/287713/Carn_Benefit.pdf It says: "This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account." Too bad, but you can use it for tours. John
sail7seas Posted June 30, 2008 #14 Share Posted June 30, 2008 They apply the credit to your shipboard account and it reduces the amount due. Whatever is on that account can be offset.
