Bar Harbor lobster?

IMHO, I don’t think you will go wrong ordering a lobster dinner in any of the restaurants in Bar Harbor. But I’ve only eaten lobster at the West St Café (WSC) ( http://www.weststreetcafe.com/ ). It was good. An added bonus was a slice of Maine blueberry pie, just like Grandma make. I picked WSC because of its location – one block north of the main drag (Main St.). Never had to wait for a table. Nothing fancy but the food was good. West St is the first street you step on when leaving the tender dock. Just go north one block and it wll be on your left.

If you are really a lobster lover, your best bet would be to go to a lobster pound. Unfortunately, to get to a pound, you will need transportation. Either a taxi or the Island Explorer (IE)(free shuttle bus in season) http://www.exploreacadia.com/ .

Here are the lobster pounds in the area that IE services:

Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound, Trenton, http://www.trentonbridgelobster.com/ IE route 1

Abel's Lobster Pound, Northeast Harbor,

http://www.fodors.com/world/north-america/usa/maine/acadia-np/review-173817.html IE route 6

BEAL'S LOBSTER PIER, Southwest Harbor, http://www.bealslobster.com/ IE route 7

Thurston's Lobster Pound, Bass Harbor, http://www.yelp.com/biz/thurstons-lobster-pound-bass-harbor IE route 7

Thanks! Saw West St Cafe on the Bar Harbor website and it looked good so you just confirmed it!!! In fact I'm making blueberry pie this weekend that sounded so good - our local ones are "in"... Our tour is over at 12:15-12:30 so timing will be perfect:)

We just ate at West Street Cafe and loved it! The lobster arrived in about 10 minutes after we ordered; they must have them cooking all day on busy days since they know everyone will be coming. Service was very friendly, and our reservation was waiting for us.

We went to the Portside Grill, a kind of hole in the wall on Cottage Street. It wasn't crowded at all. There was a great chowder and lobster roll special ($10, both very good), the blueberry lemonade was wonderful, and the service was excellent. My husband had a local beer on tap that was also very good.
