Cruise to Nowhere and Passport?

You don't need a passport to cruise the caribbean now! A BC and DL will suffice. It's different if you're leaving from a European port, tho.

But for a Caribbean thing--it's not the caribbean countries that require passports for cruise passengers anyway! In 2009, it's the good ole USA that is making us get the darned things!

If you leave a US port on a round trip (back to the same port) you don't need a passport now or in the future. The June 1, 2009 WHTI Passport Regulation has an exemption for cruises. Land borders, yes you will need a passport in late 2009. Not so for cruises.
