stop complaining about caribbean princess

I just wanted to tell everyone going on this ship not to worry about a thing. I was so nervous because I read all the whining and complaining about this ship on these boards. I was expecting the worst but I had a WONDERFUL time. Food was good, entertainment was good, service was great, always something to do at all times. STOP COMPLAINING. Who ever is going on this ship will have the best time on a vacation. Loosen up people. I will write a full review ASAP.

We had such a great cruise in March we are sailing her again in October!!!

I only wish I could have Dennis (our room steward) again - he was AMAZING!!!!!

We did the chef's table and it was beyond words. I don't think I have ever enjoyed a dinner as much

I can't wait to go back - 48 days and counting:D

Hey - give the whiners a break - some people live to complain. I expect some folks would complain if the cruise was free.

I honestly think some set their expecations way too high and therefore are disappointed.

We have always had a great time onboard any Princess ship. Sometimes small problems arise, but they have never been enough to continuously complain about any sailing as some have done here on CC.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise! ;)

People have as much right to complain as you do to shill for Princess--that's what boards are for. I have my own standars of good service, food etc--perhaps higher than yours. If my expectations are not met I have a right to say so. My own experience this summer aboard the CB was so-so and I will vote with my feet and give my tourism dollars to another ship or carrier. If others love the CB or Princess so be it. If this board is only for people who have a financial stake in puffing Princess or who develop strong emotional ties to the brand, cabin stewards, entertainers etc. (in the way sports fans support their team godd or bad) then someone should say so and everyone else can go home.

I guess if you are not going to cruise Princess you should be posting on the forum where you will be cruising. I don't know where you get the idea that some have a financial stake in puffing Princess - we just tell it like it is. With your high standards perhaps you should lookm at Cunard, Silverseas or Crystal. They may be able to meet your expectations. I am assuming you can afford the higher rate to get your expected level of service.

Ron;

Your insuting tone is an example of the kind of team loyalty I was referring to. Whether or not I can afford a luxury line is neither the question at hand nor any of your business. The issue is what is a reasonable standard of service any passanger aboard the CB or another Princess ship should expect and have a right to opine about.

Sirdar, I agree with you 100%.

To me, Princess is okay if there's nothing available on Celebrity or HAL.

DH & I had a nice time on Caribbean Princess, but we're in no big hurry to rush

back to Princess when there are better choices available.

Sorry to hear your experience with Princess was not as good as you had hoped. We have sailed most of the main stream cruise lines in the past, HAL, Celebrity, RCI, and Carnival (gulp).

We have always given each line more than one try as any cruise may not be up to your regular standards one time. So, we gave each more than one try and always came back to Princess. We have no vested interest in the cruise line, don't own stocks, don't personally know any of the staff or entertainers. But we do like the Princess product.

FYI-We have sailed on the CB three times now. The first two cruises were better than the last, but the last wasn't what I would call 'bad'.

If you don't enjoy Princess and their ships, isn't it great there are other choices out there?

But just as you say some of us, to quote you above in BOLD, think you don't have a right to voice your bad opinions, some of us can't figure out if you dislike Princess so much, why you would even be here on the Princess message boards and not on the boards for the cruise line you prefer????

Intimate Chef's Table to Debut on Emerald Princess

Culinary Enthusiasts Can Savor a Private Gastronomic Gathering with Executive Chef

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (March 27, 2007) - When Emerald Princess sets sail for the first time this spring, she'll offer "foodies" a unique treat: a rare opportunity to be welcomed into the inner sanctum of the ship's galley by the executive chef for pre-dinner cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a specially prepared multi-course tasting dinner in the dining room.

While many passengers are able to enjoy a tour of the ship's galley during the quiet off-hours, the new Chef's Table offering will give a select group of gourmets the opportunity to visit the galley at its most busy time - during dinner - and treated to a full evening of memorable sights, tastes and conversation. After the Maitre d' personally escorts the passengers to the galley and introduces them to the executive chef, the group will enjoy French champagne with appetizers. The chef will preview the details of the menu he created for them that evening, and the group will be welcomed to their special table in the dining room.

The multi-course menu will be specially created at the chef's choice, and will not be offered anywhere else on the ship. The fare might include anything from a focus on regional cuisine to a showcase of indigenous ingredients from a recent port. Each course will be accompanied by a detailed explanation of special features, preparation methods, and tasting suggestions. Red and white wine, selected by the Maitre d' to complement the meal, is included in the evening.

During the dessert course, the chef will rejoin the group at their private table to participate in a lively discussion about the evening's meal, answer any questions the guests may have, and share culinary secrets that have been perfected through the chef's many years of experience at sea and on land. On average, Princess' chefs have been honing their culinary arts skills both shipside and shoreside for at least 25 years, and all chefs are also members of the prestigious international Cha?ne des R?tisseurs gastronomic society.

"Our chefs are continuously asked by passengers how they manage to create such an impressive culinary experience for thousands of passengers each voyage," said Rai Caluori, Princess' executive vice president of fleet operations. "This will give a select group of guests an incredible close-up view of how our dishes are created and served, as well as introduce them to our talented executive chefs. They're sure to come away with a memorable experience, and perhaps some cooking secrets as well!"

Additionally, each couple at the Chef's Table will receive a personalized autographed copy of Princess' best-selling cookbook, Courses, A Culinary Journey, which has sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide and is now available on amazon.com. Guests will also enjoy a complimentary photo taken at the private table with the chef.

The Chef's Table experience can be reserved by up to 10 passengers on select nights during the sailing, at a cost of $75 per person. After its debut on Emerald Princess, Chef's Table will be gradually introduced on all Princess ships fleet wide. The 113,000-ton Emerald Princess, a sister ship to the line's Crown Princess, will make its debut April 11 and offer an inaugural summer season of cruising in the Greek Isles and Mediterranean. The ship will feature the many design innovations introduced aboard Crown Princess last year including a dramatic piazza-style atrium with casual dining venues and an adults-only retreat called The Sanctuary.

I don't know if this thread has been officially hijacked or not. But most of the criticisms I have read about the CB seem justified and relate specifically to changes in itinerary and reduced port times that relate to engine problems. Those criticisms seem to be legitimate and I would consider changing ships if I were booked on the ship and I found out about this prior to final payment.

You should read the Cunard, Silverseas, and Crystal boards--they're just like these. A lot of people love those cruise lines, but some have bad experiences and then all the loyalists jump all over them.

There is no such thing as a perfect cruise line or perfect ship (or perfect vacation). I like to read the good and the bad, but the most useful posts are those that provide information instead of just adjectives: "the air conditioning was broken," "there was no wait for me getting into the dining room," "you have to get to the theaters 20 minutes early," etc. Comments like these are what makes these boards so useful (in my humble opinion).

In a way, I agree with you that a reasonable standard of service should be expected. However, the reality (probably excepting Cunard and Crystal) is that you can experience a poor steward and/or waitstaff or food quality on ANY ship on any cruiseline. I see people tout how HAL as having better service and stewards than blah, blah, blah, but on my HAL cruise, the steward was the worst I've ever experienced, the waitstaff mediocre and the food quality just so-so. I've also had really bad stewards and waitstaff as well as fabulous stewards and waitstaff on Princess but the former doesn't ruin my cruise, just like it didn't ruin my HAL cruise. In fact, I'm on the same ship for 28 days in just over a month.

The point is that when one cruises, regardless of the cruiseline, you should set your expectations but know that people are human and every now and then, you'll get someone not up to your expectations.

We have cruised 30 times now and can honestly say we have never had a "bad" cruise. We enjoy some lines more than others because we feel more comfortable on them not that they are any better. One of these cruises was on the Caribbean Princess and we found it to excellent in all areas. We would sail on her again without hesitation.

everyone has their own expectations and their own preferences...2 ppl can go pn the same cruise, same excursions and everything and have completly different opinions...we try to keep this in mind when reading reviews...especially when it comes to things like food and entertainment...there will be so many different opinions on these things simply b/c people'stastes are different. We had a great trip on Caribbean Princess...and our time aboard is what got us to book on Sapphire in Jan
