Promenade Cabin Question

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

We have always cruised in a balcony cabin, but there is such a great deal for a promenade on a 5 nighter that I'm considering it - I can definitly deal with that for 5 nights...........LOL

Anyway my question is.............if it's an adjoining cabin do you lose any space or furniture? We had an adjoining balcony once on our first cruise and instead of a sofa there was only a chair in front of the adjoining door so from then on I always made sure that I didn't book an adjoining cabin.

Please help.........I need an answer quick!

Thanks,

Patty

I don't know about losing furniture by an adjoining door but you do gain a window seat in the promenade cabins! We love them and I'll be in one on Explorer this Thursday!

Trudy,

Did you ever have an adjoining one? I'm wondering where the door is. If there's a door by where the sofa is........I'm thinking I might lose the sofa.

I don't really like adjoining rooms........they give me the creeps......LOL

So far I put 2 cabins on hold until I can find out more information. The one on deck 6 is not adjoining and the one on deck 8 is adjoining. To be honest, I think I'd rather be up on 8 so that people can't look into our room as easily from the promenade. Although I'm sure no matter which deck we're on I'll be constantly closing the curtains because I'm sure the cabin directly across will have a birds eye view.............LOL

We've had adjoining promenade cabins on 2 cruises...no you do NOT lose furniture. LOL.

You really end up with 2 sofas...one is the window seat. The connecting door is located between the corner shelving unit that has the tv and the desk area. One cruise, we had door open since we shared with friends. But on the 2nd cruise, it stayed closed as we had no idea who was our next door neighbor. Wouldn't hesitate to book another promenade cabin for a future cruise.

Enjoy your cruise! :D

I viewed an adjoining PR cabin during our recent cabin tour on the Explorer and due to the adjoining door, there was a chair instead of a sofa. However, there is a sofa under the Promenade window, which will make up for it.

We had a regular PR cabin, and having a sofa along with the window sofa made for a very comfy cabin. We were quite happy with it. I say go for it, especially if it's a great deal! Happy sailing!

Thanks for the quick response..........one more question, can you hear through the door - is there an opening at the bottom on the door or is it pretty much flush to the floor? If you had a choice between deck 6 or 8, which would you prefer?

Karen,

So your saying the door was where the sofa was? The other post said it's between the desk and tv shelve?????? Now I'm confused!

That's correct. The chair WAS between the desk and the tv shelf. But there was no sofa, only the sofa seat under the PR window.

Hi

Depending on your deck and what you are above, you will hear noise from the promenade.

We tried the Promenade rooms on the Mariner of the Seas a few years ago. We were on the 6th floor above the bar. It was pretty loud. My room wasn't too bad, but you definitely heard it. My friend who was next door heard every sound from the bar; she was directly above it.

The promenade rooms are cute for the cheaper price (compared to a balcony) and the view of the promenade.

I would choose a higher deck than 6 and make sure you aren't directly over the bar.

Of course if you are out partying until the bar closes anyway it won't matter :)

Enjoy

How often does more than 1 person sit on the sofa anyway? We hardly ever sit side by side--it's too hard to converse with your head all turned to the side! For 5 days, even if the sofa is a chair, you'll get by!

LOL.........we hardly ever sit on the sofa in any of the cabins. I just like to have one so we can keep things on it.:D Actually I guess we don't usually sit on the sofa because we would normally be out sitting on the balcony. I'm sure we'll get by especially for just 5 nights.

Karen,

Thanks for the info........

Each cabin must be a little different then. The photos of the promenade cabins show the window seat and what looks like a small love seat between the window seat and the bed and nothing at all between the desk and TV shelf.

See what part of the promenade your cabin on #6 is over. That would be your main concern. You don't want to be over the bar or the pub! Check that one out and then decide. Enjoy your cruise. The promenade is great for people watching!

Your right........guess I have to go pull up the floor plan for deck 5 and see exactly where the bars are. Let me go check that out. I think I would prefer deck 8 but all the cabins left on 8 are adjoining cabins.

Thanks for responding.

Noreen,

We usually don't spend much time in the room anyway except to sleep, shower and dress. I really never considered the fact that we could be above a bar.........I still have to pull up the deck 5 plans and check it out. I don't know what time the bars on the promenade close but we're usually out of our cabin until late anyway. I definitely wanted to make sure we were not right above the promenade cafe because I know there's a lot of people down there first thing in the morning for their coffee and a lot of people hanging there all day long..........LOL

We cannot afford a balcony for this cruise. A prominade cabin might be fun. Good to know its not too loud if in the right spot.

I will have to look into the cost. with my luck it will be allot more then a basic inside cabin

What cruise are you going on???

We loved our midship Deck 6 promenade on Navigator and booked another one on the same deck for Explorer. It's not too high for viewing the parades and not too low where you feel like you're in a fish bowl. Noise wasn't bothersome to us at all. We were directly above the casino and I don't recall hearing anything from there (maybe the machines weren't paying out!). I do remember hearing the band in one of the pubs across the way...but I enjoyed that. We were in bed sleeping soundly every night by midnight. I'm like you ... an adjoining door is creepy when you don't know the people next door. Whatever you decide...HAVE FUN!

Thanks Trudy.

Actually I think both deck 6 & deck 8 cabins are midship on the same side as the casino. Deck 8 is the adjoining one. I'll keep checking the website - never know more may open if people cancel.

We had a promenade cabin on Adventure, that was also adjoining to the next cabin. The noise from the promenade was not a problem, however, our neighbors were! Try to avoid the adjoining cabin if possible.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was worried about. Some people put their TV's up really loud and I don't feel like hearing it, especially if the door is not real flush to the floor. I really don't think the promenade noise will bother us either so think I'd stick with deck 6 if I have to.
