Hi kewlguy :)

I am looking forward to hearing about your experience on Dawn when you get back because we will be taking our first NCL cruise to Bermuda next June on Dawn.

You'll hear all about it. I'm expecting it to be a great cruise. :D

Hey Philly Steve,

Hi to your wife! We won't make it there this year, hope to do it again next year!

John and Sue from last year's dinner table

Hi John & Sue!

Hope you've been well! We made the switch to NCL after RCI pulled out of Philly. Maybe we'll see you aboard Norwegian Majesty in October?

I know of a real Bermudiac who flies in a couple of times a year. She loves it so much she once went for the day. Found a cheap flight out of Phila., had a scooter waiting at the airport, took off for her usual touring around the island, had dinner then took a flight home in the evening.:p

A DAY trip to Bermuda! How cool is that? And to think, I consider Cape May to be a serious day trip to the beach.

Yea it was Apple tours I think. 99$ round trip. What a way to spend a day. Boy do I long for those days again. :)

Good question!

I find Bermuda to be a great destination for a number of reasons.

The pink beaches (yes, the sand really is pink although not "bubblegum" color) are fantastic with dramatic rock formations. There are tranquil locations places where you can snorkle or dive and see fantastic aquatic life. You can also spend an entire day on the beach and not be pestered by vendors.

The island chain has a reliable bus transportation system putting you steps away from favorite destination points including the beaches, caves and other spots. Buy a pass and ride all day if you like.

Bermuda has a fascinating history and the islands are dotted with forts and museums. The museum at the Royal Naval Dockyard is one of the best nautical attractions I have ever seen and they have opened a new pirate exhibition.

Bermudans are cordial and helpful. Unlike other tropical or near tropical destinations, local residents seem to appreciate visitors and are very tolerant. .

While one should never let their guard down while on vacation, I tend to feel secure in my personal safety in Bermuda.

Bermuda businesses accept the US dollar.

For me, Bermuda is just a cruise away. It's a treat to reach "paradise" without the hassle of air travel.

And, there are the "Swizzles;" Bermuda's unofficial drink. Yummy!

I'm sure others on this thread will mention things they personally like, but those are some of my favs. I've visited about two dozen Caribbean destinations but Bermuda keeps me coming back. :);)

Thinking of Bermuda for our next cruise. Why do you like it so much that you go so many times? Tell me why I will like it. Thanks

Linda

Good morning Linda,

First let me say I have traveled to "MANY, MANY" places in the world being a sailor. So I do have a few places for comparison.

First and foremost for me it the Bermuda people. Very friendly and warm.

And yes it does have problems but a lot less than other places.

Second it beauty. Yes there are many beautiful islands but Bermuda just seems to be special.

Third, it easy going style. Don't get in a rush. If it's hustle bustle you want Bermuda is "NOT" it. Yes there is nightlife, just not over the top.

I don't know if this helps, but once you go, in MHO, you'll be hooked just like the rest of us.;)

Hi Charlie,

Yeah, unfortunately we'll likely never see a price like that again. At 99-bucks, it'd be crazy NOT to go.

How 'bout that Game Five win?

HEY STEVE,

Game five was GREAT, SIX wasn't to bad either.;) I'm hoping for a Phillies/Sox WS. We have friends in the Philly area. So it will make for a little fun.;) Now just need the same outcome tonight for BIG GAME 7.

Have you sailed on the Majesty before? We sailed on before and after she was stretched. 3 times total and love her, not all the whistles and bells, just comfy.

Have a Bermudaful Day.

Game Seven. That's what it's all about! A lot of peeps here in Philly would love to see a Phils-Sox matchup but I'm just glad to see our team reach the World Series.

Norwegian Majesty is a comfortable ship, isn't it? We cruised Majesty for the first time last month, then felt the "need" to book her again before she leaves the NCL fleet. It's the way cruising used to be as you're constantly reminded you are actually aboard a ship as opposed to, say, a shopping mall. It must have been an added treat to sail Majesty before the stretch.

Another favorite thing about Bermuda is that one could cruise through the cut enroute to St. George. Sadly, as we all know, that is going away because the newer, remaining ships are just too big to navigate the narrow.

"Bermudaful Day?" I love it! :D

Steve

We are sailing on The Dream next Sunday. Just because it's the "last :(" Boston to STG run. Will miss going thru the CUT. Next year Boston to Dockyard. Guess we shouldn't complain it's better than NO SHIP. And it goes to OUR FAVORITE PLACE. :)

Oh the SOX play PHILLY again next season. Just MAY have to fly down again for the series. But I'll need to stop at Downey's (SP?) again. LOL With a QUICK stop at Pat's or Geno's, who ever haves the shorter line. ;)

Steve,

Did you let that 4 ft. gator loose in the Surekill?:p

Hi Colette,

Javascript meltdown with the link. :(

I had NOTHING at all to do with that gator!!

That green guy would have needed a sweater this morning!

Loved seeing the little green guy (anole) on the Bermuda link today! :)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, tell me another one.:p

Bummer about the link. Interesting stuff about what changed and what didn't. The casino used to have an overlook down to Crossroads.

Now I don't remember the casino overlooking Crossroads. And we did the cruise in 1997. Then in 1999. But I do remember the jackpot I hit in 1999. Just don't remember much later that day. ;) LOL And I spend a fair amount of time in the casino, "just" watching of course. LOL Hey I'll be on my way NEXT SUNDAY. :)

Most of my life I've wanted to go to Bermuda. Even as a child. I grew up in smalltown, USA, and had never been anywhere. I was never sure why I wanted to go to Bermuda, but it's the only place I ever wanted to go to in my life. My dh knew this and because life just moves so fast we got to our 20th anniversary. He booked us 3 years ago on the Celebrity Zenith to Bermuda. Both he and I fell in love with BERMUDA. Next June will be our 4th visit and I will continue to go as long as I can. My sisters and I have talked about doing some of the cheaper cruises together to the Carribean or Bahamas or something we can all afford. :) My dh only goes to Bermuda......who can argue with that. :D

Have been to bermuda 6 times total, 4 of them cruises and twice stayed there for a week at Elbow Beach. Its my favorite island!

I set up tennis matches for my DH a couple weeks ago at Elbow Beach for while we were in Bermuda on the Majesty. He had a cast put on his leg at 8AM the day we left from Philly. Maybe next year we'll try again. I'd really like to see the resort and beach there.

:D :D GO PHILLIES!:D :D

I know what you went through. My wife Sherri broke her left foot three weeks before our '07 cruise to Bermuda and the poor thing had to wear one of those big Frankenstein boots. That Horseshoe Bay shuttle came in real handy! ;)

I leave sunday for bermuda and I have to wait a big boot thing, I hate it I am aloud to take it off a little when I am not walking, but the doctor is wanting me to wear it on the sand, I dunno about that

Enjoy your cruise and follow the Dr's orders the best you can!;)
