yeah it is. if I remember correctly the closest town is like 20 minutes away, Valentine, TX and the town is only a handful of old buildings.

Yes! You are correct, both were shot in the area. At least parts of them.

Marfa is a really cool town, actually. Not at all a whole in the dessert but it has lots of high end art galleries and the estate of Donald Judd which is a lot of his art and a lot of other really big minimalist artists too.
