Paulchili Posted October 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2008 There have been "rumors" on Oceania's thread about Azamara canceling an entire season of S. American itineraries as well as canceling its 2010 world cruise. Is there any substance to these rumors or is this "old news" for Azmara regulars? Can anybody fill me in please? hondorner Posted October 10, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2008 I wonder what's happening to the folks who had booked a South American cruise? I know I looked at it before I booked my December SA cruise, but decided to stick with Oceania despite the fare differences.
cruiseyguy Posted October 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2008 RCL, which owns Azamara, is a very conservative company and likely sensed market softness before some of their competitors, redeploying Journey (which had the SA itineraries) to "safe" Caribbean itineraries. Paulchili Posted October 10, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted October 10, 2008 RCL (Celebrity) must have indeed sensed something before others did (or at least acted upon it) - as Celebrity also cancelled their Aus/NZ cruises for winter 2009/10 just before the bottom of the market fell out. Makes you wonder who, if anyone, is next with significant changes?
critterchick Posted October 10, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 10, 2008 Interesting news, although it's from January, so not so "new". RCI also seems to have cancelled plans for Radiance to sail South America in 2009/10. Everything shows up "N/A" on the current offerings. Rumor has it that she, too, will be deployed in the Caribbean. We had our Celebrity AU/NZ cruise cancelled for 2010, so we'll be going Down Under on land, as the other itineraries weren't as appealing.
