Mariner of the Seas questions

Recommended Posts

trying to decide to book mariner for next april, we have never sailed on RCCL and i have some questions ..

how are the staterooms ? we are looking to book an inside, or the promenade room,

can you see your bill on the TV in your room ?

how is the staff?

kids program hours ? activities?

or anything else anyone would like to share about the mariner would be great,

how is wheelchair accessibility?

thanks in advance

and oh yeah how is the casino? do the machines take cash ? or do you have to use your sail and sign card ?

and what slots do they have ? we like the nickel and pennies?

We just sailed her and had a wonderful time. We booked a JS so I only walked by an inside room. I would definately prefer a promenade room over a inside room if you can swing it.

The bill is on the TV in your room. I don't know about the kids programs because we left ours at home! ;)

The promenade staterooms are actuall 5 sq. ft. smaller than an inside--but you do get a window that overlooks the promenade deck--both are pretty small, but well laid out.

Yes, you can check your account on the tv.

The staff on ALL RCI ships is wonderful--no worries there!

The kids program seems to be very popular--especially with the elementary/middle school-aged kids. Teens generally will find their own things to do--like girl or boy watching!!!!

There are handicapped rooms for those in wheelchairs. Lot's of turning room in the room and bath, and a roll-in shower. If someone is using a wheelchair, be sure to book the appropriate handicapped cabin! A regular cabin will not work, unless the person can walk and step up into the bathroom!

I like the staterooms, but we don't spend much time there. The showers are round with a door that slides around to close - much better than a shower curtain.

I think the staff on the Mariner of the Seas are the friendliest and most helpful of any ship we've been on. I think a lot of that has to do with the Captain. There are two captains that alternate. We are only familiar with Capt. Johnny and he is great.

I like the casino. The slots take and pay coins. There are nickel slots, and several slots that will allow you to bet as little as a penny on each of up to 9 different pay lines. Hint: The nickel slots by the Sportsbar were very popular and seemed to pay pretty well. There is only one $5 BlackJack table (the only table game I play). I did pretty well on our last cruise. Most of the dealers are quite friendly like to have a good time with you.

You might enjoy getting to know Simeon. He is a very talented musician and leads some of the games (Name That Tune, Battle of the Sexes, etc.). I think he also leads the Karaoke, but I'm not sure.
