Hotels that offer day passes?

I'd suggest the Rex Granadian. I believe they may offer a day pass. They are an all-inclusive resort just south of town and harbor. Their phone # is: t: (305)471-6170/(800)255-5859

I took my son to Granada for a week about a year and a half ago and afterwards wished we'd stayed at the Rex rather than where we booked.

You'll love LaSagasse. The beach is on the Atlantic but it in a protected cove and quite nice. The restaurant is very good. And if you can, take the Nature Hike as it only takes about 20-30 minutes and is interesting. Hoepfully you'll have Jefferson as your guide as he is a very nice well informed young man. He learned it all from his Grandma he told us!

Thank you. I checked another forum and La Sagesse was recommended and we have booked there. But I'll keep the Rex in mind for future visits.

Can you give me information on La Sagesse? How did you reserve and how much did it cost? Do they provide transportation? Thanks!

I am intrigued. What is the point of a hotel day pass? If you want the beach and don't want the hotel pool what is the point?

The only reason i ask is when it comes to Grenada you only need to walk about half a mile (if that) along Grande Anse away from the water taxi dock and you will find yourself on an unpopulated beach. Most people get off the dock and tend to stay around Coconuts or get as far as the Vendor's Market - all this is packed with other cruisers. Keep walking and I promise you 5 minutes on and you will be on your own.

La Sagesse is very nice and has a great restaurant and is off the beaten track and you do get to see the country as you drive to it - about 45 minutes I would say to get out of town and then across to the south east end of the island and the hotel/restaurant.

All the above is ture if it is not a weekend. On a weekend like most people the Grenadians will head for the beach wherever you are and will pass the time of day in the water.

I can answer your question. It really depends on what kind of day pass. The Rex Grenadian offers an all inclusive day pass which includes your food and alcohol, and use of the pools and facilities. For $50.00 it is well worth the cost. They will also arrange for a taxi to pick you up at the pier. Last year we went to another Rex Resort on a different island and it was fantastic. There are also water sports available, everything that comes with an all inclusive resort. Some hotels only offer a day pass which just lets you use their pools and facilities and get lounge chairs and umbrellas. Still worth the cost since it pays for itself.

Hi Kathy, Thanks for the info. Do you have to make a reservation prior to arriving or just show up? Also, how much for the taxi?

Thanks

you will need to send an email to guest services at the Rex Grenadian to make a reservation. Tell them how many are coming and if you need them to arrage transportation (taxi) tell them the time and they can arrange taxi pick up for you. send an email to grenguestsvs@spiceisle.com . Taxi rates are $20 for the first 4 and $4 for each additional person. This is each way and standard taxi rates. Also the resort is only about 6 miles from the pier.

Go to tripadvisor and do a search on this resort and you will read reviews and see some pictures.

Enjoy your stay.

I did some research trying to find an all inclusive resort, using trip advisor, etc. and found Rex Grenadian Resorts. We had used their sister property, Hawksbill in Antigua last year and loved it, so knew this would be a good place to go. I called the hotel directly and got information on pricing then sent an email to Marcia, who was very helpful in accomodating our party of 11 and arranging for a taxi pickup from the ship. Their phone number is 1-473-444-3333. You can send an email to Marcia at grenguestsvs@spiceisle.com The cost is $50 per person all inclusive, room for the day was $60 (which we split by the group and paid cash); taxi was $20 for first 4 people and $4 pp after that, each way. I believe the beach is called Tamarind Bay. The resort is just a few minutes from the cruise pier and is very beautiful. We hung out a lot at the pool so we could be close to the bar, which made excellent drinks. I think the lunch was around 12 or 12:30 and it was set up buffet style. Be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to return to ship because we arranged for the taxi to pick us up at a certain time and he was late so the hotel had to get someone else to take us back, making us get back later than we wanted.

I’ve been sending Emails to grenguestsvs@spiceisle.com over the past two weeks and never got a reply. Those of you that did receive a reply – how did it work – am I missing something?

I called their 800 number and got Rex’s main office. I talked with a nice lady named Evon. She gave me the price ($50) – I told her I’d call back to confirm because I wanted a confirmation. She said OK.

The next day (today) I called and got a different person who said that I should just show up at the property. I really feel uneasy with that arrangement. Has anybody gotten a commitment before going?

Thanks, Tom.

I've also emailed them and haven't heard back...but I still have 10 months until my cruise...haha...so not too worried at this time. :)

For those who have been to Rex Grenadian, did they have a spa or massages available? If so, do you recall cost?

For the person who mentioned the La Sagesse day pass...can you pass along the info for that one?

Thank you!

I did receive an Email reply from La Sagesse

"Dear Thomas,

Thank you for your inquiry. We are located on a beautiful beach and would

love to have you visit us. The package would cost $125.00 US for two people

including government taxes and service but not including drinks. It

includes transportation, lunch (catch of the day or chicken breast platter),

a nature walk and the use of our kayaks and beach chairs. Our driver would

meet you at the tourist office at the entrance to the ship and escort you to

his van. You will have to let us know what time you would like to be picked

up and brought back.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Sincerely,

Nancy Meranski-Rappaport

Owner-Manager"

...............

However, I’m still going to try to follow up on the Rex Grenadian.
