robsvacation Posted November 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2004 Just read the CC updated review of the Paradise. Gosh I miss her! She's the best ship in the Carnival fleet (IMHO) The decor is surprising understated (for Carnival anyways) and both times I was on her I met the greatest people. The western itinerary (the one Valor will be picking up) is fantasic: 2 adventurous ports (Roatan and Belieze) and two developed ones (Cozumel and GC) with a near perfect balance of sea and port days. Oh, and the clean air was wonderful. Even the food is a little better on this ship than the rest of the fleet! I miss Paradise, I wish she was back here on 7 day routes! judyjbest Posted November 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2004 Here, here ... I so agree! It's just not the same elsewhere!
Lisa0719 Posted November 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 2, 2004 me too. i can't believe they moved her. we are going to try the Valor next fall because we love those ports, but it won't be the same without the non-smoking.
simkoreb Posted November 2, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2004 She was my first cruise, and that's why I'm going on another one!!! UNfortunatly, not the same ports, which I just loved. I'm giving up Roatan :o( My favorite port!! I'm glad I'm not the only one sad to see her go!!

IBEEMOM Posted November 3, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 3, 2004 It was a sad day when she left Miami. Especially the non smoking aspect. I miss her too!.
Linda the Book Lover Posted November 3, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 3, 2004 I am sorry the Paradise is not on the east coast but I am happy for us on the west coast. I keep reading so many wonderful things about her! We can't wait :)
Rare k9hndler Posted November 3, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 3, 2004 My DW hates smoke and this ship was a dream. I read that when she relocates to the west coast she is losing the no smoking feature. A pity.
Rare dickinson Posted November 3, 2004 #9 Share Posted November 3, 2004 :( :( :( As I got off the ship in Long Beach on Sept 20 I saw them painting over the no smoking symbol. I am still in mourning! I don't think any cruise I ever take again will be as nice as that 14 day cruise. No smoke and also 500 less passengers because of Hurricane Frances. We had our pick of deck chairs any time of day:cool: !!
Rare Terre Posted November 4, 2004 #10 Share Posted November 4, 2004 I loved the Paradise, too. I am very allergic to smoke of any kind and it was so nice to be on that ship. Ahhh...those were the days...
skiorcruise Posted November 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 9, 2004 I was on the "new smoking allowed" Paradise starting Sept 20. Still a great ship. No smoking in the cabins - hope they can enforce that. The Casino was the only place I really noticed the smoke.
sgriff17 Posted November 9, 2004 #12 Share Posted November 9, 2004 I have yet to be on a cruise that actually allowed smoking! I dont know what to expect...I hope there arent cigarette smokers EVERYWHERE and cigarette butts all over the place - but that's what Im expecting. derf5585 Posted November 9, 2004 #13 Share Posted November 9, 2004 I hope there arent cigarette smokers EVERYWHERE Nearly 25 percent of American adults continued to smoke in 1995 from http://www.no-smoking.org/dec97/12-26-97-1.html 26% of over-16s were smokers in 2002, a fall in the rate of 1% since 2000 and 2% since 1998. from http://www.tobacco.org/news/157155.html
sgriff17 Posted November 9, 2004 #14 Share Posted November 9, 2004 and from that research I'm supposed to understand what exactly? How about some statistics for the percentage of smokers on CRUISE ships?
GoinCruisin Posted November 9, 2004 #15 Share Posted November 9, 2004 Wow... testy :D Sgriff, what was your question? I notice you are "expecting" the ship to be full of smokers and cigarette butts everywhere? I have not noticed that to be the case. Yes, there are smokers... the restaurants and some of the bars are non smoking and one side of the ship is non smoking... smoking is allowed in the cabins, but one cruise I was not a smoker and could not tell any of our cabins had been smoked in... though I am sure they had been. It's much different from a hotel, where it is very obvious. The casino was the only place that I noticed an excess of smoke, but then again, it's that way in any casino. You should be fine. robinsub Posted November 9, 2004 #16 Share Posted November 9, 2004 Hi Simkoreb, we are going on the Valor next May. I was happy to see you say Roatan was your favorite port. We have never been there and was not sure about it. Now I am even more excited! Do you know how the snorkeling is there??
