I still say that Mariner benefits should have nothing whatsoever to do with what you spend onboard, or on your accommodations. Let the suite perks and concessionaires take care of providing those rewards.

I think they are frauds. And most of the"art" is pretty ugly!

A couple in an inside cabin may drop a bundle in the casino, spa, and bars, at the art auction, buying photos, and on shore excursions. In fact, some people deliberately book the lower priced cabins, knowing their onboard spending is going to be as much or even more than the cabin fare.

 

Class of accomodation doesn't necessarily translate into revenue generated for the cruise line.

Exactly! Some, if not most, of us don't have the $$$ to throw into the cruise pot just to get a suite every time we cruise. If HAL wants to do anything with their Mariner Program, it would have to benefit everyone, not just those who are with or without a suite.

 

Quite frankly, I've often questioned the gap between 50 and 100 days when the gap between 25 and 50 is so much easier to attain.

the 'gap' goes up... say from 100 for the Bronze medallion to 300-days for the Silver one. Are you saying that you expect the 'gaps' to be 25 days each time??? :confused:

I think it could be fun to post what we think the changes will be and then bring this thread forward after the official announcement is made and we find out how close we came with our speculation. :D

 

 

I'll start by saying I think the number of days needed to reach various levels will again change as it did the last time. Maybe it will be 150 days to get Copper Medallion, 350 0r 400 days for Silver Medallion etc

 

I know what some folks WANT the changes to be but what do you think the changes WILL be?

HAL already gives every Mariner complimentary a glass of wine, champagne, or ice water at the Mariner's party.

All Penthouse and Delus Suite guests do get a free bottle of champagne in their cabins -- compliments of the Captain and Hotel Manager.

I suggested this a long time ago -- back in June when this topic came up -- discounted future cruises depending on the number of days you have sailed -- always sounds good to me.

Do you were your medallions on formal night?

I only wear mine to the Mariners reception---whenever that may be. I've never worn them anywhere else, and don't recall seeing them aboard any other time.

They are a bit ostentatious for other occasions,IMO.
