cruz chic Posted November 2, 2008 #151 Share Posted November 2, 2008 I still say that Mariner benefits should have nothing whatsoever to do with what you spend onboard, or on your accommodations. Let the suite perks and concessionaires take care of providing those rewards. Blue skies ... --rita Hal can't keep peoples days straight so I wonder how they could keep track of accomodations or onboard spending. I'm with you on this one. Rare Roz Posted November 2, 2008 #153 Share Posted November 2, 2008 A couple in an inside cabin may drop a bundle in the casino, spa, and bars, at the art auction, buying photos, and on shore excursions. In fact, some people deliberately book the lower priced cabins, knowing their onboard spending is going to be as much or even more than the cabin fare. Class of accomodation doesn't necessarily translate into revenue generated for the cruise line. Roz
spcl4cs_gal Posted November 2, 2008 #154 Share Posted November 2, 2008 for a suite to get canapes. The standard balcony cabin is large enough for the 2 of us for a week or so. Exactly! Some, if not most, of us don't have the $$$ to throw into the cruise pot just to get a suite every time we cruise. If HAL wants to do anything with their Mariner Program, it would have to benefit everyone, not just those who are with or without a suite. Quite frankly, I've often questioned the gap between 50 and 100 days when the gap between 25 and 50 is so much easier to attain.
RuthC Posted November 2, 2008 #155 Share Posted November 2, 2008 Class of accomodation doesn't necessarily translate into revenue generated for the cruise line. Which prompts the question of how to count for passengers who book one cabin for themselves and a second cabin for their things.

Are you saying that you expect the 'gaps' to be 25 days each time???

Krazy Kruizers Posted November 2, 2008 #158 Share Posted November 2, 2008 OP "SPECULATED" this in her thread: We've heard there are going to be changes to the Mariner's Society Program early in the new year. Anyone heard anything definite about it? Anyone want to speculate what the changes will be? I think it could be fun to post what we think the changes will be and then bring this thread forward after the official announcement is made and we find out how close we came with our speculation. :D I'll start by saying I think the number of days needed to reach various levels will again change as it did the last time. Maybe it will be 150 days to get Copper Medallion, 350 0r 400 days for Silver Medallion etc I know what some folks WANT the changes to be but what do you think the changes WILL be? Krazy Kruizers Posted November 2, 2008 #160 Share Posted November 2, 2008 Discounted future cruise; complimentary champagne HAL already gives every Mariner complimentary a glass of wine, champagne, or ice water at the Mariner's party. All Penthouse and Delus Suite guests do get a free bottle of champagne in their cabins -- compliments of the Captain and Hotel Manager. I suggested this a long time ago -- back in June when this topic came up -- discounted future cruises depending on the number of days you have sailed -- always sounds good to me. kryos Posted November 3, 2008 #161 Share Posted November 3, 2008 HAL already gives every Mariner complimentary a glass of wine, champagne, or ice water at the Mariner's party. You can also order a soda or a cocktail as well. We did. Blue skies ... --rita

RuthC Posted November 3, 2008 #164 Share Posted November 3, 2008 Do you were your medallions on formal night? I only wear mine to the Mariners reception---whenever that may be. I've never worn them anywhere else, and don't recall seeing them aboard any other time. They are a bit ostentatious for other occasions,IMO.
