If we are leaving for an all day trip with a small tour operator such as Levi in Dominica will Princess pack us a "box" lunch to take with us? If so do they have a menu of choices to look at and do you have to order them the night before. Is there aplace on there website that discusses this info?

Thanks once again for all the great info!

Okay, Amy, I'll answer this but now you have to go to bed!!

No, no box lunches. In fact, most ports (especially including those in the U.S.) restrict you from bringing ashore food because of a concern about agricultural pests and the like. Crackers, dry cereal, granola bars, that kind of thing is okay but no fruits/veggies/meat products. If your private excursion is all-day, no doubt they'll provide food for you, or at least have a stop -- contact them and ask them directly. Or at least eat a hearty breakfast!!

We are booked with Levi in Dominica, also. He did say that you should bring a snack as it is a full day. I guess there are very few places to eat along the way and we have a full day planned. Others have advised us to bring along granola bars, etc. We do plan on having a big breakfast, bringing sm=nack fods and grabbing something to eat on our way back to the cabin!

We always pack some of those canned tuna or chicken lunch kits that do not require refridgerations and so fruit cups. We even take these on excursions that provide food just in case the local fair is not what we desire.

I would be very careful of taking any fruits or meats (uncanned) off of the ship. On my last cruise in Mexico - there were Mexican officials checking every bag (purse, backpack) leaving the ship and were imposing fines on the spot. I wouldn't risk it.

Frightening. Mexican officials checking USA for contraband.
