Hello... a couple of quick questions. I tried the search, but CC search is down again.

We haven't cruised RC in a while... we've been on Princess, X, and HAL.

We are interested in taking the family on a 7 day to Mexico on the Mariner, and wanted to get a feel from those of you who might have taken this trip on the Mariner. thoughts on the ship would be welcomed.

There will be five adults. What is the MAX number of people in the large suite??

thanks

I have cruised on the Mariner... she is a beautiful ship. :D But, the Mexico itinerary is new for the Mariner as she is relocating to San Pedro in California in January.

Been on the ship twice.....really enjoyed her. Didn't like the itinerary at all.

But the ship is nice.

Yes, she's relocating. Better hurry.

Actually, that is where we are located... So. Calif. So, it will be perfect for us.

Happy to hear such a nice ship is heading our way!

My wife and I have cruised on each of RCCL's current 5 catagories of ships...

The Voyager class ( of which Mariner is the newest!) is , by far, our favorite!!!.......You won't believe your eyes when you first see the Promenade.....then, there's the ice show...Simply Amazing!

We're booked on Mariner in March......can't wait.

WOW..........you were not aware of the ship change??

The Mariner is not here as of yet!! She is doing a 46 day (or is that night) cruise around the horn!!

She arrives sometime in February...........because she is leaving the Florida area.........sometime in Janurary..........very early in that month.......and arriving............by my count.........about February 3rd week.

There will be a fire boat that will lead her in..........and then..........you can get onboard........for a Mexican Riviera cruise, either a 4 day or a 5 day!!

She leaves Florida on January 4 and sails into Los Angeles Harbor on February 19.

There will then be a one night and a two night "pre-inaugural" cruise, and then she begins regular 7 night cruises on February 22.

I am scheduled to be on the Mariner in October 2009. I have been on the Voyager and Adventure which are sister ships to the Mariner. It is an awesome ship from the ice skating rink on deck 3 complete with ice show and free skating to the promenade on deck 5 that runs down the middle of the ship and extends up 4 decks to the glass elevators. The promenade is made to look like a pedestrian street with store fronts. The inside cabins have windows that overlook the promenade. There is a climbing wall, blade skating, miniature golf, golf simulator, sport court and a Johnny Rockets. The gym/spa has dry and wet saunas in the changing rooms along with showers. As I said it is an awesome ship unlike any I have ever seen before.

I live in Pennsylvania and my best friend lives in California. We try to cruise together at least once a year. Last November we went on the Mariner's Caribbean itinerary and had such a good time so when we heard she was coming to LA we booked right away. We have been friends for over 40 years and hope to keep up the once a year cruise traditon for many many more. This will be my first time sailing out of LA. She lives in Sacramento and we will be driving down to LA the day before! I'm also booked on LOS with my DH in January for our anniversary! I have also sailed on the Radiance and once on Carnival Spirit. Royal Caribbean is by far my preference and so far Mariner my favorite ship.

:DYipeee we won't have to fly anywhere...we set sail on the mariner 4/12/09....we loved the AOS...now I'm reading the Mariner is more beautiful how can that be? The spa, casino, and solarium are very spacious..the bar serive was top notice. The cigar lounge was impecable..My DH wasn't allowed to light his own cigar and the DeSorano was delicious, leather couches are comfy. Unfortunately there wasn't a Chops on the AOS but we experienced it on teh Serenade this past August...we will be making reservations for Chops on two different nights.

Beer in Mexico here we come....

She better be sailing a 7-day itinerary to the Mexican Riviera, because that's what we're booked on (and paying for)! :D

That's so funny. We are looking at a Jan 2010 for the same reason. Our best friends live in LA and we are in PA, so decided to give the MR itinerary a try to sail with them.

Our family of 5 did Mariner on 05' and had a great time. Beautiful ship, great crew, tons and tons to do. You will love her! So excited she is coming so close to home, but of course sad to see the Monarch leave :(

As for the suite question....I'm not too sure on the specific's of the suites, but we always get 2 cabins. A balcony for my DH, myself and DD, and an inside cabin for our 2 sons. Cheaper this way, and then we are all not fighting for the small bathroom space. 5 people trying to get ready with one bathroom must be a nightmare! We never wanted to try it, so we always get 2 cabins

Something to think about ;)

I see nobody has answered this question so I'll give you an answer.

For 5 people in the same room, your options are a Family Oceanview Stateroom, a Grand Suite, an Owners Suite, or Royal Family Suite. However, if you are five adults, I would only consider the Royal Family Suite as that would give you 2 bedrooms AND 2 bathrooms.

In a Grand Suite or an Owners Suite, you have the two twins that combines into a queen size bed, 2 people would be sleeping on the sofa bed, and the 5th person would be on a rollaway. And there is only one bathroom.

You may find that you get a better deal and more room by getting two connecting balcony cabins.

Your best bet though is to call as you cannot book 5 people into a room over the internet.

:DWarmup the solarium and casino for me please....

for April 2010 we will be doing the Radiance 11 day Mexico cruise...we will be inside cabin...999.00pp can't wait..

awesome! That's A LOT of Corona's!! :D:p

I have never done an inside before, Just the Monarch once, but this is just my DD and I, so trying to save money, have another cruise 10 weeks later just the DH and I for our 20th anni. Have to spend money on that one ;)

I will warm up both for ya! Especially the casino :p

We had an inside on the AOS...No big deal plenty of room for two adults....I'm actually really glad we didn't spend the money on a balcony..when we were on the AOS we would leave our cabin early A.m. and return well after midnight every night. We would see the sunrise while going for our morning walk. We would smuggle our own booze on board have aquick cocktail while more quickly changing our clothes so we could go party some more..

Actually, in an Owner's Suite, the queensize bed is NOT two beds pushed together. It's one big bed. :)

Hi Rick,

I just checked my confirmation for the Mariner's inaugural cruise from San Pedro to Mexico, and it still says 7 nights! Departs February 22, 2009.

Just to add that on the Serenade the Owners Suite is indeed 2 beds that will combine to make a queen. Our suite attendant thought we were 2 gentlemen (thought my name 'Bobbi'/Roberta was a male). She apologized when we checked in and my husband and I slept in the one bed! I know, this is about the Mariner, still wanted to share our funny little story.

:-) Bobbi
