Hello, we’ve booked our first family cruise with RCCL and I have a bunch of questions.

We will be going to Nassau (Feb 2, 2009) and thought we might spend the day at Atlantis (courtesy of Comfort Inn), but I’m hearing negative things about the place, such as it being the off-season, a lot of pools and slides are closed, whole wings closed, expensive as all get out, and just recently, the lay off of 800 employees. My question is, is there a hotel we could pay a day fee to which will allow us to use their facilities (pool, beach etc.). If families don’t go to Atlantis, what else is there to do?

Thanks so very much!!!!!!!!!:D

Atlantis is the place to go....don't worry come Feb they will be in full swing for all those paying cruise suckers....OOOppppppssss I mean passengers:D

No seriously go and have a great time....it's an amazing place. BTW...it's Comfort Suites you want to book a room to be able to use Atlantis, not Comfort Inn....you can of course always get a day pass from either RCCL or the hotel but Comfort is usually the cheaper way to go.

If you decide NOT to spend that money, stay on the ship and use the pool that you've paid for! Most passengers will get off, and you'll have the ship almost to yourself! Or, if you have to get off the ship, there's a straw market/shopping area right off the dock--easily walkable.

Keep in mind that going to Atlantis doesn't mean one has to spend hundreds of dollars. In fact a $5 cab ride over will do it. You of course wouldn't be able to use the pools but you can walk the hotels....which are amazing to see....you can go to the casino...browse the shops....see some real real nice art....you can go to the marina area that has some nice shops and unbelievable yachts to gander at....and they even have a straw market across from the marina that is VERY nice and much calmer, although not as big as the one downtown.

How many of you are there? That's not a cheap time there. The Comfort Suites is showing a rate of $343 before taxes and fees.

You can click on the link in my signature and it will take you to my blog. I have my review for the other thing I like to do in Nassau. :) I just swam with the stingrays at Blackbeard's Stingray encounter and that was awesome! :D

So to answer your question, you can do

--Atlantis

--Blackbeards stingrays

--Day passes at British Colonial Hilton (more geared for adults though)

--Day passes at Wyndham Cable Beach (includes pool and beach)

--Blue Lagoon Dolphin swim (another favorite of mine)

And I wouldn't worry about the closings. If you have never been there, then you will still have enough to do even with the one set of pools closed.
