Id Question

I'm 27 but have been mistaken for 16-20 quite often. Yes, I know I will appreciate it when I'm older but it stinks when you are on a date with a guy and the waiter asks if he's your dad. :( I'm taking a cruise in Dec on Carnival (Triumph 14-21st!!) and would rather not carry around my DL with my sail card. Is there a wrist band or something that I can get so I don't have to hike back to my room everytime I may want to get a drink? I know your info is attached to your card, but I have read a few posts that say they also may ask for ID. This will drive me !#$%^ if they do it everytime I go to the bar. I know it is there job to ask for ID but I would lose my head if it wasn't attached. We had an issue two years ago coming back into the country after xbf lost wallet on a excursion and neither one of us had a DL, good thing I have a killer smile :D Thanks in advance!

I think that I saw somewhere in these boards that the age is coded into the card.

On NCL (I think it's the same on all major lines), when you are underaged, your card will tell them. I don't think you have to worry at all.

I also have seen guests carded. Remember, the stewards/bartenders are answerable for serving underage people. Someone could lend you a card in order for you to purchase alcohol. They may want to check your I.D. so you best have it with you if you wish to drink.

I have never seen holes punched on a Carnival card except to put it on a lanyard. My kids are underage and they get the same card as we do. I do know that the info does pop up at the terminals, but sometimes the drink servers handwrite out the receipts.

Maybe the casino has some kind of wristband like the casinos do in Vegas? I would talk to security or a bartender about this.

LOL I would say that any waiter that asks if your date is your dad has just blown any tip he might have been getting!

I agree with the others it is not a big deal to take your DL with you along with your room key. God forbid something happened to you, it might identify you as well.

I have a suggestion. Go to Walmart's sporting goods dept. or any other sporting goods store and buy a fishing license holder. They have a strap that goes around your neck and your cruise card and your DL will fit perfectly inside. They close like a zip lock bag. I have been using them for my cruise card for years. And, I bought one about 6 months ago for 98 cents. :D

The casino asks for drivers license and/or SS card to verify age. They don't use wristbands. On last cruise, this one kid who was a few months shy of 18 kept going to the table and would play a few hands until the pit boss would card him. After a few days he decided to give up.

I have been asked for an ID on a cruise even though I showed the bar tender my valid key card. So, my advice to you would be to carry both for the first day or two, and see how it goes. I know it's annoying- I've spent many nights with my key card tucked into various pieces of clothing to avoid carrying (and worrying about keeping track of) a purse.

The first day or two you could be carded but once the wait people know you you wont be carded.

Actually they will be doing their job--because how do they know that you dont have an older sister on the ship and you took her card?
