Is there ANY rule on Carnival that is enforced? Other than smoking?

The "rules" are not rules anymore. We know the dress code is gone. Smuggling is an art form. Sneaking friends and grandma's into the past guest party for a free drink and a canape is getting to be fun. Hiding during the muster drill is cool. Showing up 30-45 minutes for dinner late is quite accepted nowadays. Saving seats at the pool and shows? No problem. IS THERE NO END???? Is any rule sacred? Oh I forgot. It's "your" vacation and you can do what you want.

I think this calls for a little trial and error, lets just find out which ones they still enforce! Next time we all go on cruises lets all pick a rule and test it. Everybody pick one:

1) Take your portraits from the photo gallery and don't pay them for it.

2) Jump behind the bar and make your own drinks.

3) Run through the casino grabbing all the 100 dollar chips off the tables and then see if you can make it back out again.

4) Sneak into the bridge and switch all the labels around on all the knobs and buttons. Also re-label some as "self destruct", "missile launch" and "ramming speed", preferably big red ones.

5) Camp out on a balcony.......that isnt yours.

I think Carnival actually has some concerns with security of their chips - as theirs is the ONLY casino I frequent (both land AND sea) that all but refuse to have $500 chips in the chip trays.

Just an observation!!! :D

Regarding what they do enforce... hmmmmm

I'll bet they won't let too many people onboard with cases of beer or bottles of hard liquor in their CARRY ON luggage ... !

Hey also, we really liked Monarch OTS. She might be worth a look since shes right down the street from you guys. I did miss the lobster though.

I'll take the balcony one. My husband refused to let us upgrade to a suite and we're going without a balcony this time. ;)

They have only chosen to enforce the RULES that have a $ sign attached to it.

They sort have been saying "screw the rest" with everything else, but that will bite them eventually. You can only try to satisfy the few, before the majority starts going "elsewhere".

Nowadays, "elsewhere" is becoming affordable to those that have been limited.

Rules? What rules? You mean the ones we read about before we sailed? It's impossible to enforce rules to 2100 passengers when you just ripped them off the promised OBC fuel surcharge. The pic's......yeah those were free.....the employees working the pic's desk could speak only broken English and could care less if you found your pic's let alone pay for them. Dining room attire? Huh? No kids on the Serenity deck? Huh? We did the self assist disembarkation. Our luggage never left our hands. It could be a smugglers dream.

customs doesn't even check for the extra booze and cigs that you bring back. In Miami you could walk off the ship with a case of "duty free" booze and they don't care. It isn't worth it.

As for smoking, they don't enforce that either. I see tons of people just tossing ashes and cigs over the side. What do they care about the ocean or the lower levels of the ship?

Funny about the pics though, many many years ago, on the Big Red boat, I did steal all my pics from the photo gallery. :o

Oh, would you people just stop with your whining?

If it's so horrible, then take your vacation dollar and DO SOMETHING ELSE!

Like stay home and enforce all your own rules!

Or go to a resort and convince all the other guests that the rules must be followed.

Stop complaining to people on a freaking message board who CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT ANYTHING!

Complain to Carnival. That is the ONLY way that ANY changes can be implemented!

And just how is it that you think these changes came about? Because people suggested on those comment cards that the dress code be relaxed.

If enough people complain to the people in charge, THEN you have a chance of something being done.

Until then, find something more useful to do with your time. Maybe you could volunteer somewhere that needs a Rules Enforcer.

ohhh...

They do tend to insist that you get off the ship on debarkation morning - assuming you don't happen to have the next sailing booked!

YEP, they are pretty strict on that "rule"... :D

Like Pete said - if $ is a factor, they are more apt to have some bite to their bark.

WHAT IN THE WORLD WOULD THIS BOARD BE WITHOUT:

A. A LITTLE OCCASIONAL WHINING OR COMPLAINING

B. REHASHING THE SAME "OLD" TOPICS

C. EVEN THE PERIODIC ATTACK ON OTHERS

Sure there is a lot of "fluff" and non-productive goings on here. Some of that is what makes things a little FUN sometimes!! You have the option of NOT reading such threads - or posting in them.

Would all of you prefer a stoic forum where everyone posts relevant (CRUISE RELATED) questions (that have never been asked before - because ALL use the search feature)?

That sounds quite useful, albeit somewhat B O R I N G !!!!

On the Freedom Grand Med this past summer, security was very upset with us when they had to be called to open our cabin door. We had connecting cabins and had inadvertantly bolted one cabin and at the same time shut the connecting door, making it impossible to gain entry into one of the cabins without the super extra special master of the universe key, which only security handles.

My husband and I were lectured and reprimanded for our horrendous crime.

So yes they do enforce some rules:D
