Lunch at Chops???

I thought the specialty restaurants are only open for dinner.

We were a bunch of local Barbados travel agents, on board just for the day

so we got the special treatment -and an excellent lunch, I might add..

with wine!

We got the special tour, the promo blurb pushing OASIS as the next big thing

the whole nine yards.

I was there to do the photos for the girls in the group, but you figured that out by now..

Hopefully the Mariner of the Seas got underway on time.........just one hour ago. She should be beyond land.......headed out to sea.

I'm sure that Carol will be checking in........within a few hours, and will be able to answer questions.

I heard from a friend of Bobbies.......but she was in the terminal internet station........and had just finished the "Best of Rio" tour with Bobbie, so didn't know about the number of new people aboard.

As I have said privately........if I could be on any leg of this journey......this would be it. There is so much beauty on this leg......but I'll probably live it thru the eyes of others. I feel very fortunate that I'll be able to join them in two weeks.;)

Bobbie has moved to a hump cabin..........should be interesting to hear how she likes it.:)

I noticed the backlighting problem the first time you posted these pics. I assume with the U-W attached, the flash is disabled, no fill possible?

I noticed the backlighting problem the first time you posted these pics. ===> I just shoot!

I rarely use flash....with either of my two lenses.

The Sigma is soo wide that it catches its own shadow area

created when the pop-up flash strikes the top bit of the lens hood

so if only for that reason, I shy away from flash when using it.

The D60's sensor on Auto has such amazing light-gathering ability

I just love to see what it comes back with, when shooting in previously-'impossible' situations.

Like I said above, I simply shoot! -on Auto most of the time..

-yes, with flash disabled ...can't stand it when it pops up!

When I get home to the PC, I see what I've got.

Most of the time(and with Photoshop's help) I get fairly decent, useable results

as you've witnessed here!

I throw out very few frames!!

Must buy a decent hot-shoe flash though...one that'll stand tall

and not spoil super-wide shots with a semi-circular 'eclipse'-type shadow in my foregrounds.

Oops, I missed "Chops" in the title of your thread.:o I don't know about tables for 8 in there, but I'll bet you can do it. If you want to reserve 2 tables for 4 ahead of time, then go to the maitre d' when you board and ask to have them put together. If worst comes to worst, ask him to seat you side by side.

Thanks Jean seems like forever ago we were in alaska dosen't it.

Ooof - finally read all 40 pages! (80, for those with 20 posts a page) - all but 3 (6) were read today!

I'm so jealous! (And still haven't figured out what FB stands for.....:D)

-Cathy

I emailed Carol to ask her what FB stands for.......

Hey Ruth - did you sign up for our roll call? I'll be on the April 26th sailing as well. I can't wait for Mariner to get to the West Coast. Thanks for all the information, Carol.

I did sign up Ruth and I talk to strangers also lol. Looking forward to meeting you !

I guess quite a few of us from the 4/26 sailing are reading Carol's thread for the info. ;) There's nothing like sailing vicariously with one of our CC "buddies". :D

Sigma 10-20 offered at $499.00

Nowadays it seems to be $569, I think,

so chances are you'll get it somewhere in that price range..depending.

B&H in NYC seems to be a good and reputable source.

Quick delivery too, from what I've heard ..from a lady in Montreal

I have used B & H... they currently have the lens with my needed Canon mount for $479 with free shipping. I am using that as a gauge for my "deal". :)

Hey George.........How are the grandchildren???

I think that the reference was to the midnight buffet being held at 10:30 because of the number of folks.........that are about Bobbies parents age onboard!:D:D

Jimmy wasn't half the talent that Tommy was .

I am a rock and roller and have been in the music business but some of my very early memories are of some of the big bands, I was about 6 years old when the Dorsey's died.

They might not play his vinyls but most likely play his "shellac's" ( 78's )

Speaking of "Vinyl" it is making a comeback.

Tommy Dorsey and Glen Miller were played at home much of the time.

My sister and brother were both born in the 20's...........so I was a late comer. Consequentially I grew up almost in a bygone era. But I stll love the music!!
