P & O have changed ports from La Rochelle to Le Verdon. The ships excursions do not look too exciting and are quite expensive. From reading tripadvisor there isnt a whole lot going on at the port and it seems you are miles from anywhere with very little chance of escape. Can anyone help please.... thanks

We just took the shuttle that was provided by our ship over to the local town and walked around for a couple of hours.

Sometimes a port like this can be a real find..or not.....but, they make for a relaxing day just wandering around the town or if you really want to do an excursion maybe you will meet some people you could share with.

Take a taxi to soulac which is a pretty little resort town nearby the port with good scenery and beaches, and plenty of restaurants. Verdon sur mer is also worth exploring in its own right.

Our Celebrity cruise stops there in Sep. and we are in the same pickle. I understand that there are no taxis or rental cars available. The cruise line has no mention of a shuttle bus-- just very expensive tours to Bordeaux and the vinyards in the area. We are doing a tour 1 day but the second day we are there we wanted to do something local. Even the town of LeVerdon is too far away too walk.

This happened to us a couple of years ago with Cunard because of local strikes. There was a free shuttle bus to Soulac sur Mer. This was a lovely seaside town with good pottery souvenir shops.
