Hi Folks,

First The News

Doctor is on state room TV saying NOROVIRUS< NOROVIRUS, yip its is on board,

now every since we have got here we have seen increased cleaning, loo doors held open etc, but today is first day of warnings on TVs,

Have seen one loo closed of with the yellow warning tape, and only seen one red bio hazard bag, room stewart said nothing in his area.

Casino only won $5 Mrs Shogun still losing every night, so went to roulete table started with 25 walked away with 81 Mrs Shogun started with 25 and walked away with 0.

Today was at Isla Margarita, great tour took 4 x 4 to North part Island,

wow never new this island had a strip, 2.5miles white sands, 90 hotels etc, Ok its an hour away from where we dock but it is worth it this stop has gone up 100% in my option of the place.

As to the area where ship docks this is getting better any one here a few years ago will see big improvement, more stalls, chairs on beech, water sports, bars etc. Still away to go but heading right way.

Will chat latter.

yours Shogun

Glad to hear that Isla Margarita is improving. It has been a number of years since we have been there so (hopefully) we wouldn't recognize the place.

I believe that Norovirus was rearing its ugly head just as we were departing the ship on January 24. We began seeing restrooms with doors propped open, tape across doors and crews cleaning various places. I thought at the time it was just a precaution between groups of passengers arriving, but we did NOT see it mid-cruise.

It is the same the world over. You wouldn`t go into some areas yourself. It`s common sense. I was on a Princess tour and it was great.

Shogun,

Where are you?:(

We are ready for your next report.

I here ya. Sadly some passengers fail to use common sense including the elderly who are easy pickings for some so we find these stops stopped.

Just the way of the world

When we boarded on 3rd January there were hand sanitisers outside the restaurants as well as the buffet. On 10th January, the restaurant ones disappeared.

I asked the head water at the door where they were and was told that they were no longer required as there was no virus onboard.

There was no sign of the virus as we left on 17th.

I guess they should have left them there.

Incorrect. The ship was built for the North American market and launched as Sea Princess. She was transferred to P&O for a time (as Adonia) and has now returned to Princess as Sea Princess. She is marketed heavily in the UK because she offers a 14 night Caribbean cruise with a UK-friendly port of embarkation in Barbados.

Excellent info. Thanks.

Hi Folks,

Last post on board as miutes running out.

Mrs Shogun birthday crew keep saying happy birthdat to her, room steward sung to her this morning, otherevents happen this evening will tell all on return.

Port of Spain today weather not so good, ship has that end on holiday feeling already, getting to stay onboard until 3.10 flight home id 4.55 so no long wait in air port but got a 5 hour lay over in England.

Lot of folk just went around dock shops or stayed on board, down town to far to walk, not set up for cruise ships.

Locals that we have chatted to very nice glad to see us etc bought the T shirt.

Granada yesterday very nice very hot, lots of folk on tours went to beech etc all seemed very happy with what island offered, the big cruise port shopping centre is finished, standard stuff but very nice, clean etc.

Will post more when home, this has been one chilled out cruise with some outstanding service from ships crew.

Hi Shogun,

Thanks for the reports. Still owe you $10 for that tour of St Maarten. :D

You had better keep a few layers in your hand luggage as the forecast is cold, wet or snowy, and horrible.

We have really felt the cold since leaving the Caribbean.

Sue,

I haven`t had one Melon Margarita since I got back.

Have a safe journey home.

Hi All,

Back in the land of snow and ice, and high speed internet. Not that the ship was bad, not good but better than some cruises at getting things done,

Mrs Shogun Birthday, big thanks to Princess, I know that they can not do all requests that us cruisers make but I got what I wanted.

First a real Birthday cake big enough for the whole table with a message on it , the high % of rum in the cake also helped.

Then a message on MUTS

Then I picked the film for that night so I was able to take Mrs Shogun to the movies, OK I know the film makes her cry, but she loves the movie.

Hows this for service beyond normal, as I had to have Mrs Shogun on deck at an agreed time, we missed the baked Alaska, our table waiter got the lads in white not sure what you call them the ones that do room service, to take half a baked Alaska to us on deck, our table waiter also came with him. Now we were sitting there just the two of us as it was last night there were only the bar bugs there a group of 12 that are there all night ever night, well the look on there faces as the baked Alaska was carried shoulder high the length of the deck and presented to us, our table mates also came up and said there good byes we kissed, shook hands etc, the bar man brought drinks to us, the folk at the bar started asking who is this couple, I just said it was her birthday.

As to last day boy did it rain at one point we thought flight might be delayed.

Carlos has left the ship and Franco has taken over, I am sure we have cruised with him before, however Carlos is the best, we had no complaints about the service in any dinning room we ate in.

We met him at the airport and again he chatted to us used our names, and all the time just wanted to check to see that we had recieved the very best of service at all times, now the man is off duty and he still cares this much.

Now ,again not everyone can get Shogun level of service, not sure why, we got such good service, may be its because the ship got an e-mail telling them I was coming, would love to know what it said, or I hope it was because we tried to be as understanding and helpful to the staff on board that they repaid us with that little bit extra.

My table mates were all new to cruising, all have said they will cruise with Princess.

So what were the extras the table got, well extra off menu food, an extra round, be it starter, main course etc, as well as extra eg on loster tail night three plates of tails were placed in the middle of our table, most nights there was an extra of some type. Be it two steaks on a plate instead of one, but the result is Princess has new fans, looking to book future cruises with them.

As to Casino went three times on last night and won each time at roulete, not massive wins as I do not put down more than a few dollars but the overall resut is this is the first cruise ever that we have come home with more money than we went out with so the casino has paid for all my taxis, t shirts and everythingelse that we use cash for and left a few dollars extra. Where did I get my system from, the Princess Casino guide to playing roulete on the state room TV.

So a quick round up for those joining the Sea Princess,

The ship is much improved in condition than she used to be,

She is not new and does need things doing, but she is going into dock in Sept.

She is not new 10 years old so expect to see worn patches.

Crew appear to be very happy, standards are as good if not better than the other ships I have been on.

All wanted to assist and make this your best cruise ever, saw a lot more officers doing the rounds, I know folk were on board doing head office inspections etc so this might be part of the reason but even when we got to the airport a Princess rep got on the bus and told us what was going to happen, then as we walked through the airport at ever turn a Princess rep to show us the way, then when through customs etc, still more Princess reps to help out, now they would be there for in coming charter flights from UK, but it was nice to see they still cared about us.

Down side was flight home Thomson Fly is not up to Princess standards, if you use VGirgin as a bench mark, they are way short, in flight service poor, movies selection poor, food very poor to point of not eating it, Princess will be getting a few letters of complaint from folk on board. seating first class folk landing up in with the rest of us in cattle class , they were not happy, not getting to sit next to partners as you did on glight out, loo not working, hand controller for games etc not working correctly.

Understand those with Thomas Cook got an OK service,

Any questions just ask, need to go for now.

Overall very nice cruise, with very nice ships crew and fellow passengers, OK a few pains in the butt but overall a very good bunch.

yours Shogun

Shogun - did you pay for the birthday cake? I only ask because my DH actually got 4 birthday cakes on our recent Ruby cruise (my DS arranged the continual supply of cakes in cahoots with our waiter). However, NONE of them contained rum. One was a full size cake and the others were the individual cakes that Princess gives out. If they should have contained rum, we feel most put out and are considering complaining to Princess:D:D

Glad you had a great, charge-free cruise.

Hi Folks,

There are Non Stop Trival games more on this ship than any other we have cruised.

As far as I know there are no charges for any pool on any Princess ship and no plans to change.

Pools at back of ship sit low down and have a canopy style roof, the gym wraps around them, door from small open deck takes you through small passage, work area on one side, machines on other that leads you to pool, bar is on upper deck area.

Birthday cake was made to order, no charge, also had a message written on it.

High light of cruise seeing Mrs Shogun go bright red when waiters started to sing, and Chefs table.

yours Shogun
