Family of 8 in Barbados

I see you've posted this question on several forums. We could give you better advice if you described the ages in your family group and gave us some idea of your interests and a budget.

Search through the Barbados forum for discussions of negotiating a cab. Apparently, if you walk outside the terminal area, there are lots of cabs that will quote you cheaper prices. There are also discussions of how to take a public bus. Barbados is an island where cabs will also return to pick you up.

If you are trying to keep costs down, then it would help to know your ship, its sailing date, and your ports of call. There are some islands where you should probably take an organized excursion. However, on many islands you will do better on your own. There is also the question of feeding your group. If you eat a big breakfast, get off the ship for an activity, and return for a late lunch, you will save yourselves a lot of money. Also, have everyone bring water bottles so you don't have to buy bottled water.

Maybe with all those kids you should just go to the boatyard. The kids would enjoy it. It will be filled with other cruise passengers and it's not a serene day at the beach, but you'd have everything you'd need there. I think it's $15pp and it's not far from the port. A cab (you'd need 2 for 8 people) would be less than $5. per cab each way, it's so close. There are chairs restrooms, changing rooms. You can get a snack or a meal.
