Petoonya Posted May 16, 2013 #1951 Share Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Changed cabins mid-way through cruise so submitting info on both. Silhouette Cabin # 6304 Deck 6 Class- 2C Area- starboard Bed near balcony Quiet- obnoxious constant loud rattle from either ceiling, wall, or TV-wall support arms. Moved to another cabin. Otherwise very quiet area. Balcony size- oversized, wonderful Wind problem- no Specific problems- other than than the mystery rattle, none Loved this cabin. Other than the long walk to the elevator (didn't mind at all) it was terrific. Loved the bed by the big balcony. Must be one of the better 2C's as the view was only "obstructed" by the extended ceiling of the restaurant below. Could not see directly below, but how often do you look straight down? The noise was awful, but I am sure they got it straightened out after they moved us. Silhouette Cabin #9305 Deck 9 Class- C1 Area aft portside Bed near bathroom Quiet- Extremely quiet! Not a peep. Balcony size- standard Wind problem- no Soot problem- no Specific problems- no, perfect in everyway Comments- doesn't get any better. Tenn4ever Posted May 21, 2013 #1957 Share Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) SHIP: Silhouette CABIN #: 7236 DECK #: 7 CLASS: 2A AREA: mid ship, starboard BED NEAR: bathroom QUIET?: Very quiet except in the early morning we could hear people in the cabin direcetly above us moving chairs around on their balcony. BALCONY VIEW: The top of the life boat was in our line of sight even while sitting toward the back of the balcony. The view straight out was clear but the view of the life boat top was still annoying to us. BALCONY SIZE: Average WIND A PROBLEM?: No problem with wind. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No problem with soot. PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Loved being near the Hideaway. Edited May 21, 2013 by Tenn4ever
afto Posted May 24, 2013 #1958 Share Posted May 24, 2013 SHIP: Solstice CABIN #: 6240 DECK #: 6 CLASS: 2B AREA: Standard BED NEAR: Window QUIET?: Yes. If the sliding glass door was open, could sometimes hear people on the deck below. Some mornings, pilot boat would come alongside and ship's officer would be on deck 5 below, communicating with the pilot boat through walkie-talkies. I thought it was a bonus to have a good view for watching these proceedings. No noticeable noise when door was closed. No noise from atrium, elevator lobby, hallway, or other cabins. BALCONY VIEW: Lifeboat (not tender, which is higher) hangs just below balcony level. There is the top of a davit and another object which just barely intrude on the view from the cabin. I am a keen photographer and did not find these to be a problem at all. Because this cabin is on the aft angled part of the hump, there is no view forward, but good expansive views to the side and aft. From the railing at the very edge of the balcony, you can see and be seen by people walking on deck 5 below, or people at railings of cabins aft. Step back and the balcony is entirely private. BALCONY SIZE: Huge. About double normal size. WIND A PROBLEM?: No. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No. PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Excellent convenient location, close to elevators and stairs for easy access to dining room, atrium, ocean view cafe, several bars and the pool. We loved this cabin! Would book it again in a heartbeat.

flames9 Posted June 6, 2013 #1968 Share Posted June 6, 2013 SHIP: Silhouette CABIN #: 1648 DECK #: 11 CLASS: Aqua AREA: Aft - starboard BED NEAR: Balcony QUIET?: Very quiet--of course this depends on your neighbors above and beside you. Many people seem to just let their doors slam on their own! And of course one tends to forget to slowly close the door, myself included a few times--sorry! And a few times heard the cabin above us, but only for a short duration (like 10 seconds) BALCONY VIEW: unobstructed BALCONY SIZE: Had 2 large chairs, foot stools and a table WIND A PROBLEM?:No SOOT A PROBLEM?:No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Took approx 48 seconds from elevator to room, at a leisurely pace, maybe a bit longer after a few rum & cokes We liked the location of the room, and if the price was right would book it again. Our room attendant Peter from India was top notch!! Loved the towel animals! Highly recommend this cabin
memory-minus Posted June 9, 2013 #1969 Share Posted June 9, 2013 SHIP: Reflection CABIN #: 6153 DECK #: 6 CLASS: 2D AREA: Fore / Starboard BED NEAR: Balcony QUIET?: Generally. There is a cabin steward closet just outside the door which was being opened and closed repeatedly late morning and mid-afternoon. The elevators are directly outside the cabin door, but we did not experience any disruptive noise from them. In fact, we considered the location decently convenient. BALCONY VIEW: Obstructed with large lifeboat supports. They do not go above the balcony rail. BALCONY SIZE: Standard WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS Directly above and slightly aft of a designated smoking area, however, we did not smell smoke at any time. lindsaystevenson Posted June 11, 2013 #1972 Share Posted June 11, 2013 SHIP: Eclipse CABIN #: 8342 DECK #: 8 CLASS: SV AREA: Aft BED NEAR: doors QUIET?: most of the time ... BALCONY VIEW: clear and unconstructed of ship's wake BALCONY SIZE: standard WIND A PROBLEM?: no SOOT A PROBLEM?: could be.... PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: we did notice soot on some days-personally given the view we had I didn't care but others might not think same. Given position on the boat we did experience "juddering" in the morning on arrival which could be a problem if you're not an early riser. Also there was a noise we couldn't figure out what it was it sounded a bit like some sort of chute-perhaps rubbish from ocean view being sent to lower levels....I am fairly certain it wasn't a neighbour or someone on their balcony. Would pick again tho for the view.
