Emerald Library

We will be on the 28 day Emerald in October 2009 and were wondering about the quality/size of the library. The answer will help us decide how many books to pack. Thanks.

The library on Emerald is a very small, very narrow room. Surprising, for such a large ship.

It does have a pretty good selection of books though.

It is small and narrow, but both sides are lined with bookcases, so I doubt there are any fewer books than on the original Grand class ships. What it's missing is extensive comfortable seating for sitting and reading. There is also a "take a book, leave a book" area, and I picked up a book for my flight home there (and, yes, left about 3 behind). I really liked the location of the library also (Deck 7 midship).

To echo others, the library is surprisingly small for a ship Emerald's size, but does have many bookshelves...just not enough room to spread out to read them in, which is unfortunate. Here are some photos of the library if you're interested: http://picasaweb.google.com/emeraldprincess2/Library#.

All Princess ships have 3000 to 5000 book libraries. We have always fund plenty of books to read, even on long (35 day) cruises.

Are you able to take books out on desk to read

Yes, but you have to get them stamped out first.
