Melxx Posted February 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2009 They serve Haggis Tatties and Neeps on P & O ships on New Years Eve. I love it :D Mind you I have always avoided reading the ingredients in Haggis it might be to much information and put me off.

leoandhugh Posted February 14, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 14, 2009 No way Jose!!! I consider myself an adventuresome eater, but having read about the ingredients in Haggis and how it is cooked, I will pass and take the escargots instead:D
regnig Posted February 14, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Well Shogun I must admit I had to look up Haggis on the internet as I had no idea what it was. The recipe I found was by Alton Brown of the Food Network. The very last direction he gives reads "Serve with mashed potatoes, if you serve it at all." Nope, you can give my portion to your worst enemy I want nothing to do with it, but thanks for asking anyway! ;) Barb
MGnut Posted February 14, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Hi Folks, If Princess served Haggis on Burns Night would you try it, yours Shogun Yes. I've had it several time on Scotland trips, and I like it. Of course, if it was a chioce between haggis and lobster, I'd probably go for the lobster. Tig Posted February 14, 2009 #15 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Ah but to truly enjoy Haggis you need a wee dram of whiskey
kooljamming Posted February 14, 2009 #16 Share Posted February 14, 2009 I am not sure what it is but the answer is yes. I have had 'cow cod soup' ( google the name). Things can only get better:p
venusbello1 Posted February 14, 2009 #17 Share Posted February 14, 2009 I've been to Scotland three times and I think the only time to have haggis is in Scotland, probably not something I would have on a cruise ship! Admittedly, I probably had a full bottle of wine before partaking but no matter...:D As an aside, I absolutely love Scotland and one day I will return! spongerob Posted February 14, 2009 #18 Share Posted February 14, 2009 That would be a delight! I'd love to see the haggis piped into the dining room, as such a treat deserves. I might even have it for dessert. Now, pass me a little water for the whiskey, there's a good lad.

Pam in CA Posted February 14, 2009 #22 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Well Shogun I must admit I had to look up Haggis on the internet as I had no idea what it was. The recipe I found was by Alton Brown of the Food Network. The very last direction he gives reads "Serve with mashed potatoes, if you serve it at all." I just looked it up on Wikipedia and while I'm not a very adventurous eater, I'd try it. FYI, I don't think most people would want to know what goes into a sausage; it sounds like it's not too different from haggis.
dunbawn Posted February 14, 2009 #23 Share Posted February 14, 2009 My DH definetly would and I'd probably have some of his. He's tried just about everything that's come his way. Eileen
Coracii Posted February 14, 2009 #24 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Hi Folks, If Princess served Haggis on Burns Night would you try it, yours Shogun Any day of the week, I grew up eating it and still do, (Scottish family and we will eat just about anything...). rdsqrl Posted February 14, 2009 #25 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Well, Shogun, I'll make you a deal: I'll try it again (had it once in Scotland; hated it!) if, while I'm tasting it, you recite the Robbie Burns poem.
