I am taking my second cruise with Holland America, angain will have a SA deluxe cabin. When we embarked at Vancouver, I thought thier was a seperate line for deluxe suite passengers? I did not see any seperate check in line for Deluxe suite guests unless i missed it?? I asked on person there about the Suite check in line, but she said anyone would help us. So am I mistaken about a seperate check in line at Holland??

There generally is, though I can't speak specifically to Vancouver. Did you board later in the process? If so, maybe they had shut it down because there were no more lines and anybody could promptly be helped and then allowed to board. I would imagine the whole purpose of the special suite check-in desk is to give suite passengers priority boarding ... so as to get them onboard ahead of the other passengers when there is a crowd. Well, if the rush was over, what would be the point?

I know that when I've seen the suite check-in areas, they've been at a separate desk, which a sandwich board posted clearly listing the cabin numbers that would be allowed to check-in from there. Usually that desk was the place where there was no line, while the regular windows all had lines at them.

Blue skies ...

We've never boarded in Vancouver so can't specifically speak to that port but in every other port where we have boarded, there was always a separate Suite check in line. There is always someone in the entry as you come into the terminal and they ask as we come in if we are in a Suite.

Our first time in a suite was our cruise this past October. We arrived at the San Diego terminal early and promptly met up with LaffNVegas. We followed them through checkin and to the special waiting area as we had no idea what to do as first time suite passengers. It was great to be one of the first people on board.

Two days into the trip, my DH & I realized we never had a boarding photo taken. Is this normal? If we'd gotten to the terminal later would we have had our pictures taken?

Our next trip, we are in a suite but my son's are in an inside and the friends we're travelling with are in a verandah. We would all like to have our pictures taken as we board. Should DH & I just go through the so called regular line?

When we checked in at San Diego they asked us if we wanted a photo and since we did not, we were escorted to the elevator to bypass the long line for photos. I am sure if you tell them at the Suite check-in desk, they will accommodate you. Since you are traveling with other non-suite passengers, I believe you will have to check-in the regular line if you want to make sure you can get a photo with them.

When we checked in for our Oct cruise I asked the lady checking us in what we should do if we are "Suite" and my sons are not. Being we will be putting their on-board account on our card, they said my sons could just check in with us. Being we now have other friends going with us, it would probably be best to just all check in at the regular lines.

Alas Sail; when we arrived to board in FLL last November, we had to ask where the Deluxe Veranda line was and after locating it, we were ushered to the regular check in line. We continued to ask about our priority boarding status and were told to stand by with everyone else. I finally had to show the boarding attendant our documents in order to convince her that we were indeed suite guests before we were allowed to proceed to the head of the line. We had been given boarding pass #4. It left a foul taste in my mouth, and yes, I did complain to the Concierge once on board.

When we cruised the Maasdam out of Montreal in September 2008 I asked where the Suite check-in line was. I was told there wasn't one. It was late in the boarding process -- around 2:00 or so, but there were several bus loads of people that HAL had just brought in. We had to wait in line with them. I wasn't very happy, but made the best of it.
