sunnysavannah Posted February 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2009 I usually look at Port side first, IDK why! I just realized it. Given the same cabin, but the only difference is Port or Starboard, which do you choose?
meansun Posted February 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2009 If its the Voyager, we like port side because thats the way the captain likes to dock. We get to watch the passenger parade.
Shoreline23 Posted February 21, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2009 When sailing out of Port Canaveral I prefer the starboard side to see all of the restaurants along shore during sailaway from the balcony. However, if you like to join in on the excitement above deck then it doesn't matter what side you cabin is on. Port side, however, gets you that morning sun to wake up to at the beginning of your cruise. During the second half of your cruise you might want to sleep later and not be awaken by the morning sun. cb at sea Posted February 21, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Since most ships don't dock in the same direction, or even at the same pier everytime, it really doesn't matter! We try for the largest cabin in the best spot available...works out fine that way!
JalenR Posted February 21, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2009 I like the port side. I like having the sunset off my balcony on the way home. I've been on the port side on all my cruise expect one and I kept going the wrong way when leaving my cabin!
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted February 21, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Going aft this time..... was starboard last time.....doubt it would make a difference.... unless I was going to choose a hump.... and there was only a hump on one side.... would that bother me? and the itinerary..... morning sun, sunset.... so many factors..... hoop4321 Posted February 21, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2009 we like to see which way the ship goes and to be on the side that we will be able to see the islands we come up to. We LOVE watching us coming in and going out.

Citizen Jane Posted February 21, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Starboard. At the ports we were at last time (Key West, Cozumel, and Belize) at the two pier ports we tied up along the Starboard side and I liked watching the process of getting secured and unsecured. Of course, it could be because when I was a coxswain in college I always thought it was easier to slide the starboard side of an 8 into the dock...probably because I'm right handed.

swcruise Posted February 23, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 23, 2009 Portside always till now, this has been based on room category rather then anything else. This time around, we got two interconnected balconies on the staboard side, it will be interesting to see if we will have a preference after this trip, can't imagine we will, but let' see.. dgwags Posted February 23, 2009 #15 Share Posted February 23, 2009 I usually look at Port side first, IDK why! I just realized it. Given the same cabin, but the only difference is Port or Starboard, which do you choose? For me it's whats above and below the cabin that would determine which one for me
ken_nyc Posted February 23, 2009 #16 Share Posted February 23, 2009 I have always booked the portside for reasons that most of the time we were facing the pier. This cruise we have the starboard because I wanted the center hump cabin and it was not available at the time.

cruiserbryce Posted February 23, 2009 #20 Share Posted February 23, 2009 location on the ship as far as mid/forward/aft is much more important to me...I dont think I have ever specified port or starboard
retiredonthesea Posted February 23, 2009 #21 Share Posted February 23, 2009 Most of the time it's a stern suite---otherwise on a specific sailing we'll decide if we want to see more land ect. --Alaska starboard, South Am will be port. Really love the stern!!:D
lablvr2 Posted February 23, 2009 #22 Share Posted February 23, 2009 I used to do portside every cruise. Now - aft believer. Corner aft works for us!!! Love the privacy and views.
