ladylawyer Posted March 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2009 I really need some advice from all you experienced M-Class cruisers. My cabin is on Plaza Deck 3108. I see above me is the Promenade Deck. I am well away from the Casino, so I'm not worried about that. However, what I can't tell is whether the *blank space* directly above my cabin is a promenade ... i.e., a place where people will be walking. I just can't tell if the walking area is in the interior of the ship, or whether it's on the outside edges, the way it is on RCI's Sovereign and Radiance class ships. If it is a walking area, do you recommend that I move, due to the noise? Help, please!!! Thanks!!! :D
KiwiAtSea Posted March 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Hi Ladylawyer, I'm about to go on the Millennium, having studied photos and plans of her and her sisters in the lead-up to my cruise, I can tell you Yes, that is the outside Promenade, that goes along under the lifeboats, and above your cabin. It is not laid with wood, but with some sprayed-on surface. I have no idea about noise absorbtion but since the Promenade is NOT wrap-around - people can only walk along either side of the ship but not around the front or back - I don't imagine it would get much brisk or heavy foot traffic. (maybe when the ship is docking in ports) Sorry I can't advise what you should do, but I don't recall ever reading noise complaints about it here on the CC boards... so maybe that's a good sign? flparalegal Posted March 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2009 We were on Plaza deck in cabin 3056 just down the hall from your cabin in Nov. 2008, and never heard any noise from above us. By the way, I enjoyed being on Plaza deck as it was very centrally located. Walk out of your room into lobby and there is the Grand Foyer, stairs straight ahead or elevators right nearby. Denny01 Posted March 24, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2009 You should have a great time. Our first cruise was on the Summit M-Class on deck 3. The only noise we had was during docking when they were 'adjusting' the gangway stays and so on. But I forget the exact location so it probably won't be an issue for you. No noise from above. Recommend you try our two favorite M-Class areas: the Aqua Spa Pool and Cafe (great inside pool thats almost a hot tub and healthy dining), and the Cava Cafe - great specialty coffees and snacks. Great place to Wifi, if needed, and watch the world walk by. See that you are on the Mercury on the West Coast Cruise. Loved it - hope you go to Astoria. Lovely town. Went to the cooking class and had a hoot. Be ready to volunteer to be the assistant! Denny

Seattle, Victoria & Nanaimo. However, I'm really looking forward to being on the Infinity for the PC! Have a great day!!! ~ Lorna
