Fridgecois Posted April 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2009 We are planning on at least 2 beach exursions with our 3 young kids (3,7 &8). What do you guys do for beach toys (sand buckets, shovels, etc)? I thought I had read somewhere that they make collapsible sand buckets but I haven't been able to find them. I hate the thought of packing all that bulky stuff.
reallyitsmema Posted April 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2009 You can nest a few buckets into each other and then pack socks or small stuff in the buckets in your luggage. Another option is to buy buckets and shovels once you get to the port if you are coming in the day before. We always make a Walmart or a Target run for all the extras we don't want to waste our valuable luggage weight on since the airlines are so strict now. When my son was younger we would get beach toys, juice boxes and snacks, now it is snacks, gatorade, water and more snacks.;)
cb at sea Posted April 21, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2009 The buckets could qualify as the kid's "carry-on" on the plane!!! Stick any "entertainment/snack" items in there, and let the kids carry them!
crusinmama06 Posted April 21, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2009 I try not to go crazy with sand toys. I take a small bucket and a couple of shovels. I pack them in the luggage (fill them with smaller clothes) or I pack them in the kids backpacks (which they carry on the place)
Fridgecois Posted April 21, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted April 21, 2009 Luckily we are driving to the port so the baggage shouldn't be to much of a problem. I guess I'm just dreading toting all of that stuff to the beaches . Pure laziness on my part. However I know if must be done if we are to enjoy our time at the beach. Thanks for the packing advice!
