I'm happy for you, but remember, there are all those people scheduled on the 7th that have been cancelled. I feel bad for them.

Thanx for that, we are one of the victims. Stayed on hold with Carnival for 45 mins to find out she knew nothing about the cancellation and was going to have to call us back.

Can they move you up to the May 2nd date, how is that going to work??

What a shock they changed Ecstasy to a 7 day. color me surprised.

I'm not sure I understand how they can extend one cruise and cancel another as a result? I mean, I understand that they have to make adjustments and I think it is awesome they found a way to alter the May 2nd cruise ports, thereby extending the length - and I would be soooo psyched if I was on that May 2nd cruise!

But, I would be soooo disappointed if I had been scheduled for the May 7th and found out they canceled it due to extending the previous one!

Will they refund those poor people their money? I'm still pretty new to all of this, so I don't know how that works. I left the Ecstasy last week, and I guess I'm just thankful my first cruise ended without mishap and we got to go to our two ports. I would have been devastated if my first cruise got canceled! (but I would have dealt)

Yes they will refund their money and Carnival is usually good with giving people something for Carnival canceling the cruise. Sometimes it is like 25% - 50% off a future cruise plus your refund.

I think someone posted they are getting $50 toward another booking, not 25% or 50%.

I wasn't saying that is what they are giving for this situation, but they give that much for shortned or canceled cruises during hurricane season.

You get a refund in the form of a future cruise credit it says. Can be used thru 2010.

Well, that wouldn't be too bad. I'm pretty easy going and I totally understand why Carnival can't port in Mexico. But, if they canceled my cruise due to extending another one, I would be upset if they didn't give me a full refund now - a credit is great and all, but I would rather have my money back now to use on another type of vacation, and then let me decide later I want to pay for another cruise.

Ah well, as we all know, this is the risks we take when doing any type of vacation. I work in disaster relief, and I know better than to schedule ANY type of vacation during hurricane season, but now I realize no time of year is safe! That's life... :p

Just think at least they didn't say you go on the cruise or you can not go on the cruise with no refund.

I'm on the May 11 now the 9th! I am super excited but do feel bad for the crusie that is cancelled:(

Same one here. It's our first and we're pretty excited. Hope no one on those islands get the swine flu between now and then because who knows what they'd do.

And I guess we'll have to up our budget for the extra drinks and casino.:p

Edit to Add: if you twitter, you can follow Carnival's twitter updates here. They seem to be very responsive via that method.
