Just got off the Sapphire today, we did not go to any Mexico ports for disembarkation. We did float around Ensenada, supposedly no one got on or off. We did go to San Diego on Thursday and Catalina Island on Friday. We had a great cruise despite no Mexico ports. The entertainment, food, and Princess were very accomodating. Great to meet all the fellow CCer's on our roll call. Thanks again Joe & Amelia, hope to cruise with you again someday.:)

We were on this cruise, and even thou we didnt get to go to mexican ports,it was still a nice cruise,i did feel bad for those that have not been to any of the scheduled ports, but who would of thought, that a swine flu virus would pop-up and cancel our ports,i thought princess was nice to offer a discount for next cruise,;)

We were on it too. Being in another branch of the travel industry, I was able to watch how our branch of the industry reacted and how Princess reacted. Considering the circumstances, Princess did a pretty good job with this one. (Especially the future cruise credit discount.) I know some won't agree.

Btw it was my first time to Catalina, so now I can say been there, done that and have the t-shirt. (Oh wait, I didn't get the t-shirt)

We were also on this cruise. I know in our party of 5, we were all disappointed in the canceled port calls, but we think Princess handled the situation well. Maybe the flu is not as virulent as first thought, but hindsight is 20/20, and I feel better that we didn't go to Mexico. We still had a great time exploring San Diego, which is always lovely, and a new stop for all of us, Catalina Island. I had never been at sea for 5 days straight, and that was kind of fun & relaxing, too. I wonder how all the Southern Californians felt about it and if any of them got off at San Diego and went home?

I heard a lot of the San Diego locals got off the ship at port to go home.

Hey all. My husband and I were on this trip too. We live in San Diego. We did go home and check on our cat and get our mail. We actually went to Old Town for Mexican food for lunch and "pretended" we were in Mexico. We got back on board because we wanted to go to Catalina and hey, we already paid for the trip!

My husband won the poker tournament so we won a free cruise for two so that is super nice!

Great to know that someone on our cruise won the poker tournament. We were wondering if it was any of our fellow CCer's. My friend Teresa was going to enter the slot tournament, but did not. We had a fabulous time and will cruise again sometime.

Welcome home all you Sapphire cruisers....we leave for Alaska on the 16th on the Sapphire.

I have a question for any of you casino gamblers......does the Sapphire have the card system where you can load $$$ onto your ship card at a slot machine, then download/upload any part of that $$$ from your ship card as you go from machine to machine?

And we cruised with Joe and Amelia several years ago (another MR trip) ....they are "crazy" people and lots of fun to be around...hey Joe and Amelia, it's Wil and Andi :D

I used cash for all the gambling I did. I don't know if there is the card option, but I don't think so. I play table games though. It is the usual, you give the dealer cash and they give you chips. You then go to the cage to get your cash back. I did put a random $20.00 in a slot machine and it gave me "Princess" coins back which I redemed at the cage.

YEP - it's dangerous though. I seem to spend more "money" when I'm not inserting "money" !

my friends and I were on this cruise too, my friend made it to the final round of the poker tournament, but i think was the 4th person out when he decided to go all in... it's ok though! our group walked away from this cruise with a lot more lil prizes on the side! ie: bottle of patron from the tequilla tasting raffle, 30min massage from sail away raffle, champange & tote bag from liar's club game and some princess tote bags & caps from the week long treasure hunt game. we'll most likely be going again in another 6 months! :D

Thank you for all positive reviews. Think about if Sapphire Princess dock in PV, Mazatlan and Cabos. At this time will be many complaints about getting Swine Flu virus. I am glad that Princess made that decision. Be happy, you are on the cruise ship, there many other things you can do to enjoy the trip.

We were also on this cruise. It was disappointing when we were told we could not go to Mexico. But most people shrugged it off in a day and had a good time. My husband entered the slot tournament and now he has a $100 T-Shirt. :D

We too had a great cruise,:) anybody from the 5/2/09 Sapphire out there that can tell us what is your itinerary this week?

Our cruise 4/25/09 went to San Diego,CA on 4/30/09 and 5/1/09 to Catalina Island, CA. We enjoyed the cruise except the rough seas on Wed., we weren't sick just felt the motion alot. I am sure we saw many of you, just didn't know it. We tried to meet everyone.:)
