Julzizzle Posted May 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2009 It has been a long time since I used these! Was wondering if we could cash them on ship and not have to carry so much actual cash.... Thanks
cruisldy Posted May 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2009 In our 40+ cruises have always carried T checks and been able to cash them in the casino, but I am thinking that it might be possible at the Customer Service desk also, although I've never done it there. cb at sea Posted May 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Yes, you can cash them, and store the cash in your safe!
Merion_Mom Posted May 4, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2009 You can cash them both places, with no hassle and no fees. Casino Guest Services Desk (Purser's Desk)
freelist Posted May 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2009 Along the same lines as the first question, but a little more specific... I'm taking a Mediterranean cruise next month, and I'm wondering if they'll cash travellers cheques in euros? (To be perfectly clear, I have EUR-denominated travellers cheques, not USD-denominated.) I didn't realize until recently that all ships operate using USD no matter where they sail, but I'm hoping that they'll have euros on board since that's what I'll need for the ports. Thank you. Scotsnomad Posted May 5, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2009 They will cash Euro T.cheques however be prepared for a hit on the exchange rate. The are likely to take a larger than normal cut. regards
freelist Posted May 5, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2009 And here I thought that I was being so clever in buying my EUR gradually over the last several months whenever EUR/CAD dipped lower. (I work in FX, and have rates in front of me all day long.) I think that I'll be swinging by some banks on port days then, where a 100EUR TC gives me 100EUR. Thank you very much for the response.
