Table for 2?

I am sailing in less than a month and am wondering if we are going to have a table for two or are we going to be sitting with strangers. We have always cruised with a large group, this is our first time as only 2. Any ideas if we can get a table for 2, we typically like to eat lunch with new people but for dinner I think we would prefer to be by ourselves we have traditional second seating.

Did you request a table for 2? If so, Princess does not guarentee it will be able to fill all requests, but at least you have a chance.

Many of the Tables for two are just a table at the end of what was a table for 8. It is moved 8 or 10 inches from the other tables. Not a lot of privacy.

We also like a table for 2 at late traditional. This is what usually happens.....

They seat us at a larger table, but we arrive just a little late the first night and stop at the Maitre d' station. We check our table and then we are told we are at a larger table. The Maitre D' suggests we move to anytime dining. We pleasantly but firmly say "NO, we prefer traditional". Then we stand and discuss it and eventually end up with our table. It has always been a table for 4 that no one has shown up for. Lately we find that most people want early traditional so it has become MUCH easier! We have cruised 18 times with Princess so the first night negotiations have become routine. ;) Stick to your guns. Good luck!

This is true, and it's also true that sometimes the waiters run your order in tandem with the other tables for two near you.

I don't think I would mind being 8 inches away, or having my order run at the same time. I just think I would like to spend the nice romantic meals with my boy friend at dinner rather than other people, we will socialize with others at lunch becuase we really like to do that too. I think I will see the MD when I first board, then my second tactic if I don't get the table for two then, I will use plan number 2 which will be asking when I get there if they bring me to a larger table. I am hoping this will work. I am thinking of boarding as early as I can so that way I will be one of the first requests to the MD. He will be the first stop I make. When I board should I just ask a crew member where to find the MD?

No. The time and place will be posted in the Patter (the daily schedule sheet). The secret is to go 1 hour early. It usually starts around 1:30 pm. The maitre 'd is not available earlier. It's a small sacrifice to insure you are near or at the front of the line.

Hi There,

On our last cruise the MD came up to us and gave us a table for two on first night, on 2nd night he gave us a table 6, but he closed the table for two we had, so it was empty and advised if we did not like our table mates or just wanetd to be by ourselves the table was there for us.

He was a very good and a very nice MD.

yours Shogun

We wanted to be seated with a larger group but was only offered table for 2, the ones against the wall. Not a lot of space for privacy, not what I expected!

On our May 2nd cruise we had requested a table for two. Our cruise cards stated the Vivaldi room 2nd seating traditional. We had a reserved table for two for the whole week at the same table. As reported (did not count), 500 people canceled this cruise due to the change in itinerary so this room was fairly empty. The tables were very close together so it was difficult not to have conversations with tables one or two away.

This was my first Princess cruise and only my second cruise in all so I can't tell you if this is normal to have traditional diners in an anytime dining room or if the requests for tables for two have increased so much that this has become the norm. The 8:15 seating included traditional and anytime diners. If I remember correctly one of the other anytime dining rooms was just for 1st seating traditional.

Either way you will enjoy your cruise and you can always request a table for two for lunch. Actually a table for four just for the two of you!!
