Rare fb0075 Posted May 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2009 Been away a long time from Princess but emergency might make us re-think-- Is the Aug 30 Itinerary a good one? Seems like several off ports as opposed to the other sailings? Balconies at about $3000--is this a normal rate for this smaller ship? Also, how is this ship now? thanks frank
paul929207 Posted May 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2009 We are on the same cruise on July 25th. We love the Tahitian. We spent two weeks on her last summer in Alaska. I am looking forward to the ports. We are going places we have never been.
Rob & Beckys mom Posted May 28, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2009 We loved the Tahitian Princess, but try to get a cabin on deck 6 or seven. We stayed in 8067 on our first time on her & it was very noisy. Caribe deck is the best for a balcony as they are half covered & larger. flamomo Posted May 28, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2009 We sailed on the Tahitian this past November, and she is lovely. We enjoyed every day of our cruise on her. Interestingly, we were in 8049 and had no noise problems whatsoever.
flamomo Posted May 28, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2009 I don't think so!!! None of the cabins on the sides of the ship are deep. I don't know about aft balconies. On the Tahitian, the balconies are similar to those on the Sun, Sea and Dawn. They are cut out of the outer hull, and all are covered.

can786 Posted May 29, 2009 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2009 You are talking about a 49 day cruise for $3000? That's $61/day, which is downright CHEAP! There are two different cruises that leave on August 30th. One is an 18 day from NY to Dover and the other is the 49 night from NY all the way to Capetown. The Princess site shows balcony cabins for the 18 night cruise starting at $2999. You're right though, if it really were for the 49 night cruise that would be like the bargain of the century! That price is only for a BF guarantee, so even though the ship is still wide open you'd be taking a chance on getting that cabin. One of our friends did this same thing for our 28 day Amazon in March/April on the Pacific and guess what she ended up with; yep....the BF. In any event, I expect those prices will come down. Rare fb0075 Posted May 29, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted May 29, 2009 Few last things-- How does the smaller ship handle the northern waters? Seems a little small for this time of year--- Was the entertainment and variety thereof adequate --- circumstances make this the only cruise that will work for us ---have business class seats that return from europe after being called off last week from Asian and egyptian cruise because of problem with our daughter-- we normally like the larger ships--but still looking hard here-- THANKS FOR EVERYONES IMPUT!!!
