Leaving out of Port Canaveral

We are going on a short cruise in November out of Port Canaveral, and are trying to figure out where to stay -- as we are coming in a day early, and staying for 2 days after to visit Kennedy Space Center.

Any suggestions on hotels in the area that offer free shuttles from airport/to port, and that are still a decent distance from KSC? We will have a car for the post-cruise, but not for the precruise.

Thanks!

This thread is really informative~

We have stayed at the Radisson, they don't have a shuttle to/from the airport but renting a car is really reasonable. We used Avis in the past and they are close to the Radisson and they offer free shuttle to the port. Check out the link above and you will get a ton of great info and really helpful suggestions :)

The two other options are the Country Inn and Suites and the Marriott Residence Inn. All 3 hotels are in the same vicinity. All have shuttles to the ship. The Country Inn has a park and cruise rate similar tot he Radisson, but over all maybe a little less expensive and the shuttles to the pier aren't nearly as crowded. Choose the one that has the most amenities you'd perfer and the best rate. All 3 get good reviews on tripadvisor.

I'd suggest the rental car route rather than spent the extra $ for park and cruise plus rental on a car you won't be using. They can take you to the ship when you turn in your car the first time and should be able to pick you up when you get back and then you're only renting the car for the time you need it.

Have fun on your cruise.

Thanks! We aren't planning on having a car that first night, just on the post-cruise part.

Are there restaurants around the Radisson?

No hotels offer shuttle from the airport in Orlando.

There was some family restaurant beside the Radisson, cant remember the name. There was a McDonalds across the street we went to for dinner and grabbed some breakfast before the 11 am free shuttle to the port.

Radisson allows you to sign up for the shuttle when you book, and any room you book has a free shuttle, so dont book the cruise special, only thing extra is the $10 breakfast.

A1A is very busy right there, so you might wanna walk to the light to cross to the McDonalds, about 6 lanes, 3 each direction there. I think the family restaurant wasnt open for breakfast.

PS Im thinking when I was at the Radisson they offered a free shuttle to places in the area if you asked ahead of time if you want to go to Fish Lips or the other fish place at the port or elsewhere, they would take you the night you stayed, if they had a free shuttle.

The name of the restaurant next door is Zachary's. If I remember correctly, it was Greek food...very good and cheaper than the Radisson.

If y ou go to the Eastern departures board, Florida departures and the I work in Pt Canaveral thread, (as posted earlier) go to post 5511. It has info about hotels, cars etc. The whole thread has a lot of info but the post earlier only shows the last page.(pg 303) If you have time to read a few pages, you will get to know a lot about Pt Canaveral.

Enjoy!
