Seattle to Vancouver by train

DH & I did this last year. Absolutely loved it. Ride is an excursion in itself.

Best seats are on the left side of the cars for a view of the coastline; however we had seats on the right side and enjoyed the view of the many small towns we passed through as well as the beautiful fields.

We took the train from Seattle to Vancouver to at the start of our trip. It was a highlight, as someone else stated an excursion in itself. We saw lots of things from the train, but espically eagles, we saw more on that train ride (over 30) not sure if that is normal or not. It was a great way to travel. I would recommend.

AND you go through Canadian customs at the train station -- much easier than at the airport. To me that was a great advantage to the crowds at the airport. There is also an ATM in the train terminal and plenty of cabs to take you wherever you need to go.
