deevah70 Posted June 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2009 Hi All I am from NYC and am thinking of booking a 31 day cruise to Asia (china, thailand, japan, vietnam, so korea with a stop in Russia). I wanted to know if anyone is familiar with the Visa requirements for those countries for a US citizen when cruising through them. I plan on spending time in Thailand afterwards. If anyne knows a good website or has any information I would GREATLY appreciate it.
paul929207 Posted June 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2009 We have been to all thecountries you list on cruises. Only China requires a visa in advance. The rest either don't require a visa or the ship got it when we arrived.
Kiera99 Posted June 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2009 If you plan on visiting China, you will need a visa to enter the country.
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2009 Vietnam differs by cruise line. Some will make the arrangements on board the ship but some require that you get a visa in advance. So be sure to find out about that. In general, if you take the ships tours in Russia the cruise line will handle the visa. Private tours vary. Some tour companies get your visa and others do not so in those cases you have to apply for a visa ahead of time. For China you do need a visa ahead of time and be sure you apply for the right one. If multiple stops then a multi-visa is required. No visa is needed for Hong Kong. Keith
