Fascinating reading....if it is the same procedure as when Royal Princess went through , they will form into a convoy and get an get armed Naval escort.

Also interesting to read Sherees report on the trip to the Valley of the Kings, and how some the passengers behaved.

Interesting to note , for anyone following the current position of the ship, on the sea scanner site that Sheree has posted on her blog, that it is not showing the usual map and plotting her position.

Guess thats for security considering where they are.

I was puzzled by that name Thied and wondered where they where going. The itinerary says Muscat, Oman.

A google search came up with Mina Qaboos as being the name of the port there, so I guess we will just have to wait and see where they end up.

No doubt we will hear from one of the bloggers.

That was a great read, Joanne. It certainly brings home the dangers of travelling in some parts of the world. We really do live in the lucky country, but I'd do this cruise in a heartbeat.

thats what it said on the ships cam, and there still going there acording to the ships cam

im realy glad im not on this cruise , because i realy dont like Captain Graham Stephen Goodway, had him on the pacific sun once didnt like him at all and same as Adam the cruise director ( The fat controler).

I think i have mentioned this here before .... but what he told me in may (when he first got on ) is that captain Mcbain is coming back from holidays in dubai and they will be swapping over...

Has anyone read the review on the current cruise www.cruise-australia.net/DP-world-cruise-review.htm which has been written by a respected cruise reviewer? Seems some things on the ship need fixing by the Princess management

 

 

I have read that review and must say I have mixed thoughts about this particular review.

 

I feel the writer seems to have made both friends and enemies on this world cruise. He promotes over and over again the ones he 'likes' and degrades the ones he doesn't, all quite openly.

 

His conclusion that P & O UK are better for world cruising can't compare for us who live in Australia and New Zealand who would take the Dawn Princess cruise for several reasons.

 

1. It is a Sydney to Sydney itinerary, P & O UK is Southampton to Southampton.

 

2. It departs in Autumn meaning that we can all escape our Winter. P & O UK departs Southampton for their Winter but is in our waters during the cyclone season.

 

3. The currency on board is Australian dollars, P& O UK is in Pounds Sterling.

 

I guess we have to wait to read reviews from other passengers before we can accept this review as it has been written.

I have read Reubens review several times... even when it was vetted and now today it has been restored..

 

I respect what he has to say as he is a seasoned traveller and lets face it he is a ship historian and cruise reviewer...

 

Obviously the shipping companies read what he says hence the princess representatives boarding on in ireland...

 

Everyone perceives things differently and there are some things that you grin and bare and others you will not tolerate...

 

We all know things go wrong.... and we really really enjoyed our first cruise back in may

 

but we could have got upset and cranky about

 

1. we sat around the wharf 8 for 8 hours before they would let us board and missed the thrill of my sailaway cocktail cause it was 1am before we left

2. we missed our first port

3. we had to ask 3 times to get someone to look at our shower as the water kept running cold

4. we missed our last port

5. we sailed back into sydney under the cover of darkness

 

I was disappointed to read that after rectifying some of the issues ... the CD reverted back to her old ways after the official left the boat...

 

and the fact that the CD threw away all the complaints into the rubbish bin on the morning show infront of all the passengers....no matter if they were right or wrong, what message is that sending to everyone... I am sure we have all complained about something in our life time and how would you feel if you saw them throw it straight in the bin... it would get my goat up LOL...

 

My husband who has been in management for a really long time said that he would sack someone for doing that.... What damage would that cause to princess's integrity

 

I do hope that princess take heed... cause yep... that world cruise is on my bucket list...2011 cross fingers.... and yes I like it cause it is sydney to sydney ( i like shopping ) and I like their jam packed itineries but my husband did suggest that we look at what others offered after reading that....

 

 

lets hope next years will be better and that 2011 will be perfect LOL....
