Sage, waiting for the promised secret recipe ...

Well it looks like I am just going to HAVE to make it :)

Will let everyone know just how many servings it makes. I haven't tasted it yet, but Margarita (my wife), refused to order it on our second time to the Pinnacle because (in her words) "I would end up eating the whole thing and that is just too much for me!"

So, I guess the recipe should be good for exactly 2 servings for our household!!

After putting on my glasses, I see there are some difference in the two recipes. Here is the one I was given for seven portions

9 oz. wt. Butter, whole, unsalted

4 oz. wt. Chocolate, unsweetened

18 oz. wt. Sugar, granulated, white

4 Eggs

1/2 fl. oz. Vanilla extract

5 oz. wt. Sifted flour

1 oz. wt. Cocoa powder, Dutch

1 tsp. Baking powder

1/4 tsp. Salt

2 fl. oz. Grand Marnier

The Whipped Cream Recipe was the same. And of course feel free to add as many chocolate sticks as you like.:D

Hmm,

guess this means I will have to make 2 batches and let everyone know which one is the better of the two!

Of course, we would graciously accept ANY invitation to sample the cake at someone else's home.

For the adventurous, if you come to Ottawa, we will gladly share!

Sail,

Yes, they do appear to be different. Mine was given to me by the Pinnacle Grill Chef on the Volendam on the December 6th sailing. Let the great volcano cake testing begin. :D

Allen,

We are looking at the cruise you are taking in November, and we will let you know if we decide to change. My best to Margaratia.

I wish we could attend! What fun that would be... let me know if you make the cake! I am really curious to see how it comes out - you know what? Maybe I'll try it!

Sage....That is a VERY different recipe.

Mine was given to me by the Executive Chef of the ship....almost two years ago.

Sail, I'm LOL!!! Not only is it a bit different, but yours must serve at least 20 people!!!

I'll have to blend the recipes. But I don't think I'm going to give it a shot for a party. Best I scale it down and try only a small portion:D

I think i will try both too.

But in asmall batch just for the two of us, I hate to try a new recipe out the first time when you have company, this way if you scerw up the first batch, no one knos about it. *LOL*

But they both do sound good
