shashi883 Posted July 29, 2009 #26 Share Posted July 29, 2009 We don't get home till really late so it is off to bed. Otherwise we would order a pizza. Fast and easy. I have to remind myself not to try and pay with the cruise card ;)
janetlm Posted July 30, 2009 #27 Share Posted July 30, 2009 We usually end up eating a nice meal in the airport on the way home. Usually we are in so late that neither of us is interested in food.

momofmeg Posted August 21, 2009 #29 Share Posted August 21, 2009 since we drive to port normally and it is a 10 hour drive, we usually eat dinner out, on the road-if we fly-then it is takeout.
Jamdug73 Posted August 24, 2009 #30 Share Posted August 24, 2009 We have only been on one cruise before and that was a couple of years ago. Our home port was Galveston,TX so when we got off the ship we loaded our luggage in our cars and headed to the Rainforest Restaurant. Our next cruise will be next year in Galveston as well and hopefully we will be able to do the same.
MuffyKismet Posted August 28, 2009 #31 Share Posted August 28, 2009 He has pretty much become a tradition for us to go to Outback Steakhouse when we get back, the food on the ship is great but lets face it , it is different then what we normally eat at home or out in town........so we really crave something that is we can count on being consistent and satisfying and familiar.........too tired to go home and cook the first night back LOL! CarnivalGirl3 Posted August 29, 2009 #32 Share Posted August 29, 2009 hopefully, there will be something in the freezer...or whatever we got from the ship. I have to be at work Monday morning. We've never had anything planned and I don't remember anything we've had before/after.
Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted August 29, 2009 #33 Share Posted August 29, 2009 After all that great food and service during your cruise, it is a bummer to come home and face reality to have to fix dinner again. That first night, is the pits. Refrigerator is usually empty, snacks all gone, etc... Do you usually order in, go pick something up, fix a frozen pizza? I usually make a pasta casserole before I leave and freeze it. Pull it out when we get home and bake along with a loaf of garlic bread. Quick and simple. Go out and eat
cctn Posted September 1, 2009 #34 Share Posted September 1, 2009 Since our favorite Mexican restaurant closes at 1 am every morning, we stop by there on our way home and eat Mexican food - whether we have sailed to Mexico or the Caribbean - corkey
LovesToTravel47 Posted September 2, 2009 #35 Share Posted September 2, 2009 either fast food or order pizza, just depends on the mood. Just sad that the cruise is over and I have to go back to planning meals, preparing and cooking again. :(
DKNYC Posted September 8, 2009 #36 Share Posted September 8, 2009 First night I just curl up in bed and cry myself to sleep...Post cruise depression. Second night: When waitstaff does not come take my order, I heat up a can of soup. Third Night: I have re-stocked the fridge and cook something. eddiesgal Posted September 23, 2009 #37 Share Posted September 23, 2009 It's usually fast food at the airport for us! It's usually a shock when they tell us the total. Too bad they don't accept the Sail and Sign card! That's generally what we end up doing as well.:)
CruizenSusan Posted September 24, 2009 #38 Share Posted September 24, 2009 It's a great Tex-Mex place for us. First thing I want is chips, salsa and a top shelf frozen margarita!
Aveyflower Posted September 25, 2009 #39 Share Posted September 25, 2009 We are very lucky, my mum and dad usually have something ready for us so once we land we have dinner with them, and then just off home. I am even organising to have my food shopping delivered the day after we get home. Shame I cant order a chef and waiter too ;)
Guest maddycat Posted September 26, 2009 #40 Share Posted September 26, 2009 We almost always order pizza. It is cheap, no cooking required, and we have never found pizza on the ship that we liked, so it is a great first meal back home. Wow. We do the exact same thing. BlackEyes Posted October 1, 2009 #41 Share Posted October 1, 2009 Order a pizza and enjoy it with my family..But there's nothing compare to a home made meal cooked by my mom..
gssmks Posted December 30, 2009 #42 Share Posted December 30, 2009 We run through a fast food place on the way back to the house.
TX.Mameow&Papeow Posted January 8, 2010 #43 Share Posted January 8, 2010 We always stop for mexican food but it seems the service is not up to standard and the silverware is thin and light weight and only one fork ! We learn to readjust in time.:D

moosetracks17 Posted January 24, 2010 #45 Share Posted January 24, 2010 We sit around the kitchen table and realize we need to go get our own fork.... and we only have one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we stare at eachother and ask who wants to get the bread rolls..... I usually cook a box of pasta and sauce.... easy and in the cuppboard so I dont have to 'pay' for one more day... Then we sit and wonder how were going to eat pasta with only 1 fork.... and drink our tea really slow since we cant seem to find the server to refill... Hmmm- I guess our 1st dinner back is a DENIAL dinner before admitting we're back in reality.
cb at sea Posted January 25, 2010 #46 Share Posted January 25, 2010 Depends what time we get home...if it's early enough, I head to the store and cook dinner....usually, but that time, I've had enough of "restaurant" food! A homecooked meal is sort of "welcome"!
MiamiSpartan Posted January 29, 2010 #47 Share Posted January 29, 2010 We usually strong arm some friends into having us over for dinner.... :p

cruisinbuddy Posted February 5, 2010 #49 Share Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) I usually gripe and b!tch about making the dinner, wiping the cat hair off of the counter, and keep calling for the Chef, btw, I'm a Chef, and then the darn waiters never show up, so I have to serve it too. Then of course I have to do the singing and dancing in the diningroom. And don't get me started on the auto tipping thing, oh he!! no, no tips here! Oh yeah, whatever time we get home, good old Canadian BEER. Edited February 5, 2010 by cruisinbuddy
