does price go down after the 'final payment due' date?

I cannot decide. prices seem to be pretty low right now for a cruise I would like to take in Dec. 2009. how does it work? do prices come down after the final payment due date, which for this cruise is Sept 10 -

and

what about waiting until the last minute, do prices come down?

I realize I have less of a shot toward an upgrade, but that will be ok.

what is your opinion? do I book now? what if price is lowered before Sept 10? can TA can the lower price?

The definite answer to your question is Yes, no, and maybe.

If you are looking at a Carnival cruise then the answer is yes, book now using their Early Saver Program. You will receive any price reduction as an onboard credit. Your deposit is non-refundable.

The Early Saver Rate is usually only for dates at least 5 months away. After that, they go away. (or so I understand)

Most other cruise lines....we are back to yes, no, maybe.

If you're thinking of the Mariner of the Seas to Mexico, they had 2 significant price drops (April and July) and they still have great space available (Xmas sailing to Mexico on 12/20/09).
