Portofinos - help with menu please?

Recommended Posts

If you are not keen on the seafood try the beef, its amazing! And all the pasta dishes are very good too.

The OP doesn't eat beef (meat) so I really doubt the value they will get out of the $20 cover charge at this venue. They could have a caesar salad, soup and the mushroom pasta (which is devine BTW) but is this worth $20.....?

Whoops, just saw the seafood.

The vegetarian and pasta is amazing too and I think its worth it, the pasta in MDR was awful.

I agree. They do serve a mushroom pasta on the formal (filet of beef) night in the MDR that I thought was better than the Portofino one.

I understand your point about spending the money if I am vegitarian but its our 1 year anniversary on the ship and I thought it might be a bit more special than just going to noraml dining with a group of other people or going to windjammers - what do you think?

Yes, I do think the atmosphere is more romantic and quiet than the MDR, so it would be worth it for that.

ps I am sure if you give them some notice that you are a vegetarian and your likes and dislikes, they could do something reasonable for you that is not on the menu. I have always found the MDR waiters and Portofino waiters to be very accommodating. They want you to be happy.

It's mainly Italian--pastas, sauces, etc. There is alot of seafood and meat on the menu, but you don't have to order that....there are menus posted on these boards somewhere!

Portofino’s is NOT a “Pasta and Sauce” restaurant, Yes there are 3 pasta appetizers on the menu but the majority of the dishes do not have “pasta and sauce” as was noted to the OP. I"ve dined there many times and have never ordred pasta.

To the OP

Portofino’s would be a lovely way to celebrate a special day. There are many items on the menu that would be suitable for a non shellfish or non meat eater.

Enjoy

M
