pknapper Posted August 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2009 Booked our first cruise a week ago. We know that we want to get some travel insurance. How is the insurance Carnival offers? I have read the policy and seems like they cover alot. Especially the lose your job clause, with the economy the way it is. Are there independent companies that cover the same things? is it better to look at an independent or just use Carnival? Patti

uppitycats Posted August 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2009 In general, the travel insurance offered by the cruise line is never the better choice. Indeed look at the links someone already offered you, and do some shopping. By the way, if you have any pre-existing health conditions, SHOP NOW, as you'd need to cover that within 10 days or so of booking! (Pre-existing health condition = any health condition you now have that may worsen, or flare up at an inopportune time, like right before you cruise, making it impossible for you to go.) We've used TravelGuard and TravelEx in the past, and found their rates reasonable. I have a pre-existing health condition, so book with one of them immediately. Rare Keith1010 Posted August 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2009 We have found that insurance bought with private companies to be less expensive and more comprehensive than those offered by cruise lines. We go to a web site which is http://www.insuremytrip.com You enter some basic information and it provides a number of private insurance plans that fit the bill and then provides a nice way to compare the plans. You can either purchase the policy from this site or directly from the insurance company. Keith
