Piraeus - Embarkation/Disembarkation

Hi there! I will be changing ships in Piraeus in September. Would anybody have any experience of disembarking/embarking in this port? Is it a quick process? is the luggage brought down quickly? Is the terminal big enough for simultaneous movements of passengers? Many thanks

We've disembarked there and it was a very quick process ... from the time we walked off the ship, took the shuttle bus to the terminal, picked up our luggage and were on our way, it was no more than 20 minutes. Our ship only had 700 passengers, so perhaps a quicker process than it would be for larger ships ... but the terminal seems to be run quite efficiently.

We have both embarked (in June) and disembarked (last September) in Piraeus port and both times found the process very smooth and efficient. The cruise terminal (except for the taxis trying to rip off disembarking tourists bound for central Athens) seems to be sufficiently large to handle several ships' passengers at once.

However, IMO the process really depends upon the efficiency and organizational skills of your cruiseline. Both trips we traveled with the very efficient Oceania (less than 700 passengers).

The terminal is quite large and it accomodates several passenger cruise ships.

I agree with all that has been said but want to highlight what CintiPam said. The cruise line will play a key role in the disembarkation process.

Many thanks for your comments. Just found out that both ships arrive at 07:00 am and depart at 11:00 am so it is a short time to go through the Terminal and back but it should work. I was planning to walk from the Terminal to the train station (did it a few years ago but without luggage and now cannot recall how far it really is) on the way to the airport but perhaps better to take a taxi
