How comfortable are the couch beds?

Recommended Posts

I am sailing next year on the Freedom of the Seas in a balcony cabin with a couch for a third person.

I was wondering if anyone would post their thoughts about sleeping on the couch. Is it basically a twin size bed? Is it really comfortable enough to sleep on? Is it kept as bed during the day, or is it reverted back to a couch during the day?

Any help would be appreciated!

The couch bed I slept on in the GS was a full size bed. I'm an adult, although a small one (100lbs, 5ft 3in), but I was fine. I did not find it uncomfortable at all. I think for larger people or someone with back problems it may be an issue, but for the average size person who is not a "picky" sleeper it is fine.

We had three in a cabin on our Serenade cruise, and one of our group had slept on the sofa bed before and had learned a trick that worked (for her, at least): she asked our cabin steward to make it up with a double eggcrate pad. He stowed the pad behind the sofa during the day (when the couch was back into couch configuration - when it's open, there is very little room in a regular cabin).
