  1. Cabbage Tree Aquatic Reserve - accessed via the scenic pathway along the waters edge from the southern end of Manly Beach to Shelley Beach Headland. Popular spot for snorkeling. Approx 160 species of fish, blue groper, wobbegong sharks, cuttlefish etc. You don’t need to pay for a tour. Catch ferry to Manly from Circular Quay. Get off ferry and walk straight down the Corso which will bring you to Manly Beach. Head to the Southern end. Follow the scenic walkway around and you will spot the snorkelers in the water or continue on and snorkel off Shelley Beach.
  2. Thank you. Good to hear that Just checked and the Raptor Centre that I want to visit Sitka opens for the season on the 1st May. So that’s a good start.
  3. Newbies to Alaska and had no idea. We are booked to depart 30th April from Vancouver. I guess the option is to book ship tours or do due diligence on checking tours/places are open before we plan our day. Hopefully this won’t impact our cruise too much as the cruise was definitely not a bargain price…
  4. Based on a Harlan Coben book? Pretty sure I’ve read it. Most of the tv adaptations of his books have been good
  5. Gone with Grand Princess. We had a very limited available date range in our schedules to book Alaska. Looked at RCL, NCL, Celebrity, and Holland America and Ruby Princess - Grand best suited our availability and where we wanted to board and disembark. Realise she is old but I’m confident we will enjoy nevertheless.
  6. Thanks for the replies. Decided against NCL and ended up booking Princess for Alaska
  7. That’s on my bucket list - sounds like a plan for you for next Christmas 👍
  8. Hi. If I book NCL direct in Australia for an overseas cruise, will the cruise booking cost be charged in AUD or USD? (Sorry for the basic question)
  9. I’m starting to feel lazy. My brother & nephew recently rode their motorbikes Sydney to Phillip Island in Victoria (1, 019km each way) and this long weekend my BIL & a mate cycled Sydney to Canberra in ACT (285km one way).
  10. Just read one of the articles in the Crown & Anchor newsletter. Ricky Ponting (former Australian cricketer) and wife Renee’s wines are being stocked on Royal’s Ships this summer on cruises to NZ & South Pacific. Didn’t realise he even had a wine range (Ponting Wines)…neither did DH who is a cricket tragic
  11. My dad loves dinner for one. What time is it on SBS? DH and his brothers saw the Military Tattoo when they came to Sydney. Very impressed.
  12. How long did they give you at the Caves? And do you recall how long it took you to walk up all those stairs & return?
  13. Glad the teen was found. Be a big relief for her family. Unrelated to the post but since of few us who posted here have them - what exactly have we done to earn a gingerbread man? I got the notification from cc - something to do with Christmas?
  14. @ReneeFLL Would love you to post photos of all 4 handbags if you feel inclined - at some point. Do any cruise lines sell them on board? If not, they should.
  15. Love it! That was the one that I picked for you when I looked at their website - I thought it was the perfect cruise handbag 🍍🍹
  16. It’s all happening on the Northern Beaches this week. Firstly, packages of barnacle encrusted cocaine are washing up on the beaches. Second a poor sunfish died near Shelley Beach attracting sharks so they had to close Manly Beach yesterday and last night there was bioluminescence at most of the beaches.
  17. We had the NYE discussion last night. A lot of the usually paid ticketed sites in Sydney are free this year but as NYE will be on a weekend, they will fill up early. We don’t fancy spending all day at the viewing sites waiting for the midnight fireworks. I am happy to do nothing as we have a really busy couple of months ahead - interstate family visit, overseas visitors for dad, our annual beach holiday, a cruise, a short break and then I am heading over to Canada to see the “kids”. DH is keen to do something though.
