  1. Just your postcode to apply. They probably check the electoral roll before they confirm successful tickets. If I get tickets, I’ll let you know, what further proof is needed.
  2. Royal Sydney Botanical Gardens has four FREE sites this year for NYE. Usually they are ticketed and expensive. According to their website, you can start queuing at 7am, gates open at 11am and site will close as soon as they reach capacity. Once you are in, you are in. If you need to leave, you can’t go back in. Last year the queue down Macquarie Street went back to the State Library. I bet this year since it’s free, the queue will go back to St Mary’s Cathedral…
  3. I read an online article yesterday about a Delta airlines flight from Atlanta to Barcelona that had to turn around due to a poor passenger having extreme diarrhoea. That was a health & safety issue too. Sorry the sewerage issue happened to your friends. Hope they get well compensated.
  4. Hi. It’s an activity that you need to book. Book through the app when you are on board. Bears cost approx $38-40 each, then clothing and accessories are extra.
  5. Thank you. Entered the ballot last year with no luck. We spent NYE at the Opera House instead which was superb. Have entered for Cahills Expressway again courtesy of your link. Thanks
  6. Good morning. My dad in Australia, ordered a handmade crochet gift from a friend in Hong Kong for the daughter of friends in Hungary. Dad paid for the lovely bunny & mini ballerina. Dad also received an unexpected bonus gift from his friend just for him. Cute koala in surf life saving gear. The family in Hungary said please don’t post bunny etc just yet, as they are currently holidaying in the Dolomites in Italy. A photo from their trip. Look at these cable car cabins. I looked them up, they are historic but fully operational and known as coffin lifts. Located in Sassolungo, Dolomites.
  7. Until last year, Australia was free of the varroa mite. In June of last year, they were discovered in sentinel hives at the Port of Newcastle, just over 2hrs north of us. The Dept of Agriculture has since been trying to contain this infestation and stop the spread of the outbreak. This week, my dad’s friends who live in a rural area in the North of Sydney were informed by the Dept of Agriculture that all their honeybees would need to be exterminated and their hives burnt. Very sad. Now, my dad’s friends that keep honeybees on the Northern Beaches are on knife edge as to whether they will be forced to do the same very soon as the infestation continues to head towards the Sydney basin.
  8. @mo&fran I hope you continue to manage to consume food as you continue with your treatment. @ReneeFLL & @sea2shiningsea your photos are beautiful. Hope @singinalot and those of you and your family members have not suffered much damage during the storms. Wishing @sgmn and @dani negreanu and everyone else who has an upcoming cruise a lovely holiday. Apologies, if I have missed anyone this week.
  9. Please accept my condolences @Sunshine3601 on the loss of your dear friend Mike, @Keksie on the sudden loss of his father that your son is currently dealing with and the loss of your beloved family pet, Cooper @jagsfan
  10. @NHProud My DS did the sea to sky gondola on the this time last year. Midweek and he had the gondola to himself. Photos & video (if it works) IMG_3104.MOV
  11. Hi Luminosa standard balcony 7353 was what we had for our GBR cruise last December. Very nice covered balcony. We spent most of our time when not at ports relaxing by the adults only Serenity deck. Only time we were on the balcony was before and after breakfast prior to Port disembarkations and at sunset. We got some lovely sunset photos from our balcony throughout the cruise,
  12. Yes that is an excellent way to do it. Qantas currently have Sydney to Vancouver for $1399 return but I didn’t look into the t & cs.
  13. I holidayed in Singapore for a week with my dad who was in his 80s at the time. We exclusively used taxis in Singapore as Dad had mobility issues. As mentioned, they were inexpensive. The taxis were easy to obtain at our excellent apartment complex. Things that Dad really enjoyed: Orchid gardens at the Botanical gardens - absolutely stunning Early dinner at Clarke Quay then sunset/night bumboat cruise from Clarke Quay -goes under the illumination bridges & you watch the illuminated fountain light show outside the Marina Sands Hotel from your bumboat. We caught a taxi to the Supertrees in the afternoon and then did a tour by open bus around the site first to get orientated. Then we visited the Cloud Dome & Flower Dome. Absolutely stunning. We timed our visit so we would have dinner at the hawker food outlet at the Supertrees. Then we sat & waited in amongst the Supertrees for the nightly light show. Dad was complaining about the time we spent waiting - 1hr - but I knew it would be super busy and I wanted up to get there early so we actually had somewhere to sit. And he was absolutely wowed when the light show was over. I was going to mention Battlebox - really good history tour we did at Fort Canning but I just searched and unfortunately it closed permanently in May of this year. We caught the cable car over to Sentosa Island (stunning views) and the monorail back. We didn’t stay long at Sentosa as Dad was getting tired by this point. But it was worth a visit for me. Newton Food Court was closest to our apartment and we went there & back by taxi most nights. I will admit that there was a bit of a wait for taxis to get us back. We stayed at Treetops Executive Residences (Apartments) which was superb. Lovely two bed apartment with really nice pool and breakfast buffet included. It’s not cheap though. We weren’t going on a cruise - so I expect there are closer & cheaper options for you. I liked the location because it was a short walk to the big Orchard Road shopping complex.
  14. Crystal, as always, this is a superb trip report to a part of the world I will probably never get to visit. Thank you.
  15. @BonTexasNY Please accept my sincere condolences on the sudden loss of your dear friend Cheri. She sounds like a lady who lived a full and rich life even though she has gone too soon. You were blessed to have her in your life for those 20 years.
  16. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary Graeme & Pauline. Been waiting for your anniversary dinner photos. Meals look delish as always.
  17. What is it with P-plate drivers and Ute drivers, driving too close?? Tonight after dinner I drive to Dads and had a Ute driver up my backside in a residential area where I am doing the speed limit. Last Monday eve, I had the exact same thing happen, same time of night, different residential area, me driving at the speed limit and I had a p-plater right up my backside. And no-one seems to understand that a STOP sign means stop. Ugh. Sorry, rant over.
  18. Sorry you tested positive Sue. Hope your friends are ok & Gary continues to be ok. My friend was saying on the weekend, we will probably have an uptick in cases very soon with all the FIFA World Cup celebrations here in Sydney.
  19. My dad still uses phone cards to call his sister in England. Obviously they are still used by many because he has no problem buying them locally. He would prefer to use modern tech but his sister only has a landline - no mobile. no computer.
