I was interested to read that Ovation is being sanitised from bow to stern in the early hours of the morning with fogging. Has this occurred on other cruise ships this year with Covid cases on board? My thoughts are with the family of the sick child. This is the second medivac you’ve had this cruise? Such a shame about Mystery Island. My friends on board were looking forward to the massages on the island. was the duty free shop open during your stop in Vila?

Daughter got a decent Sydney taxi driver last week. Uber was quoting $80 (high demand pricing). Taxi did exact same trip for $20 and the driver asked her which of the two routes she would prefer he take.

Last night I took over the cat sitting duties. My friends left me a bottle of champagne and chocolates to enjoy whilst sitting on their lovely balcony overlooking the bush. We are in the midst of really nice weather here in Sydney. It so good, after an extremely busy week of work, to relax on their balcony at sunset and watch & listen to all the bird life with my champagne and chocolates whilst keeping a close eye on Mr Fluff during the 15mins he is permitted on balcony. At the 15min mark, he darted back inside without my prompting and I closed the fly screen door and we sat, me on the balcony him on the other side of the flyscreen door in companionable silence watching all the birdlife until I joined him indoors.

Congratulations to the newlyweds. Hope Donna feels better soon and everyone is well for Thanksgiving.

Day 2 of the cat sitting by DD. Apparently the big fluff is a bit of a chatterbox and they have been having great conversations. “Mum, he talks more than me!” This morning, she had a zoom interview. In the middle of the interview, the big fluff decided to pounce on the laptop….the interviewer suddenly saw the screen tip sideways and the screen filled with very fluffy orange fur 🤣

I don’t know if we have this Australia. But it is needed. I am glad your daughter & grandchildren have this. So impressed that your granddaughter stepped up and spoke about her dad. Hugs to you all.

The are still iso passengers on board at midday according to the angry posts from those currently venting on the Princess social media groups.

Whilst I am very pleased that Carnival are doing this, I wish the staff good luck in trying to enforce it, judging by the attitudes in the online groups on that social media site.

I trust you will enjoy NYE on board as much as we did. Christmas on board is great too. Best thing about our cruising season being Sept to April is that I’ve done a few December cruises and I love how the ships are decorated for Christmas. Have been told our upcoming cruise will be decorated 🎄

Carnival only lets you check-in 14 days before departure which is stressing me out and you can’t book your shore tours until boarding so I have to make sure I get an early boarding time. Have you done a NYE’s cruise before? We did NYE on the Voyager and loved it.

DD is on cat sitting duties for the first time for my friends’ cat. My friends left on Ovation yesterday. DD sent me a photo just before she left for work of a unhappy cat hiding under their dining table. It was the face of a cat not happy that the fur parents have deserted him and someone new is in the house… I told her she was not to worry. When she goes to bed, she will get cat cuddles. Sure enough, she sent me an update first thing this morning that the handsome ball of fluff had joined her in the middle of the night and started “chatting” to her and was following her around this morning.

Sparky sounds adorable. Daughter sent me a video yesterday of a rescue cat - the cat was lying on its back on the deck stretching and rolling and the pet dog was lying next to it, doing the exact same thing.

Daughter has decided we need a cat. DH is opposed to the idea mainly because he is worried about our dog Max’s response. In the meantime, I am being shown daily photos from the rescue site of adorable cats. “Mum, looking at cats is the best part of my day” Can we convince DH? Time will tell… He did have a beautiful oil painting portrait done of Arabella the cat we owned when we were first married, so daughter has hope….

Thank you for the balanced review. Looking forward to our upcoming cruise. Hope the toilets are sorted though. We are aft…and having no toilet for the length of time you had would be unacceptable. I assume there was a public toilet near your cabin? Any compensation provided since they couldn’t fix or move you?

This morning we were at the International airport to say farewell to our son who is currently enroute to Canada. He dropped a bombshell earlier in the year that he had applied for a 2 year working visa. He is flying direct to Vancouver- 14hr flight. He was delighted to score a spare seat next to him. Not so delighted to have a baby across the aisle… After farewells & tears, we drove to Kirribilli for brunch. Snapped a photo of Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth at OPT as we were crossing Cahill Expressway. Absolutely glorious morning so we did our favourite neighbourhood walk in Kirribilli after our delicious brunch as the Jacarandas are now in full bloom. And not just Jacarandas are in bloom. Love that bougainvilleas are in bloom too.
